Radders

While driving down to Wellington for the rugby on Wednesday, I heard this guy on Radio Live talking about the number of suicides, murders etc etc. in Christchurch, and what a black spot it was in terms of violence, and depression in NZ. Apparently it has a much higher percentage of suicides and murders for its population, than the rest of NZ.
They were talking about whether it was the weather - with all that smog hanging around in winter, and then the NWesterly blowing through in Summer, making everyone cranky. All these people were calling up saying how everyone was always moody etc. etc.
I never really noticed whenever I've been there - but then I've never been in Winter.
I have always been told though that the place is full of nutters and wierdos - and have seen my fair share - maybe there's some truth to that ;)

Yep, as always Mr Laws is spot on. We're so lucky to have such top quality media people in this place. :laugh
Yes this is a terrible place to live.
We all hate it. And God, we're so depressed. :wah
There's nothing going on here and it's absolutely impossible to get a decent latte, dearies.
So - don't bother coming here. Stick to Auckland. Or Wellington. Or that heaven on earth Wanganui (for God's sake!!)
And I thought that what really irked Non-mainlanders about Cantabs was they they thought we were all so smug and happy with our boring little lives down here.
BTW - I was in WLG on Weds for the match. Walking from the stadium along that terrace towards the railway station with the rain coming in horizontal on a day that the wind wasn't 'particularly bad' - I can just imagine people sitting in their cars as they drove away from the match discussing how bad the weather is 'down South' :laugh .

We were only saying earlier that, whilst it's bloomin' cold here in Chch, the skies are usually bright and blue with big fluffy clouds and very little rain and how uplifting it was compared to UK half-arsed drizzly winters etc. :P We're due a couple of overcast days now, but when you know the majority will be blue and crisp it's bearable!
And, perhaps to make winters more colourful, the daff's in my garden are budding!! I reckon they'll be flowering in 3 weeks or less! :eek Weird! Was told that daffs bloom all through winter here :nice1 Couple of trees in the garden are budding too :?
Definitely a smog hanging over Chch but nothing to what I had been expecting - but then it's still quite early winter so it has the potential to get alot worse. :? We live near the sea so we're lucky that we don't have the smog probs here.
