Can anyone confirm this for me.

If we are driving in NZ with a UK license, do speeding points affect the insurance premium paid?

Any help appreciated.

I hope not.

But I did contact my local police force to ask if points for speeding should be disclosed for jobs/forms etc and they said you should unless it has been "spent". Therefore I think if you're putting together your EOI its worth mentioning the details of any motoring offences.

Well, we got our insurance over the phone via our car sales people so they didn't have sight of our licence... they did take down the licence number but he couldn't possibly have checked it for speeding points or anything else whilst we were on the phone and by the end of the convo we had our insurance sorted and paid for ... so as far as I can make out any points didn't affect the insurance.... I don't think he even asked if we had any!

Best thing would be to email a NZ motor insurance co and ask them!

Thanks, I've emailed a few and they are all saying different things but either way, it doesn't sound too serious.

How's Sumner? We're moving that direction in a few weeks.
