Just a quick question for all that would be so kind to answer it:
After submitting your EOI, when did you receive your ITA (how many weeks?)
And did you see Decision Successfull on the NZIS site first,
or did you just get the ITA in your mailbox? (email perhaps?)
I'm just so curious ;)

Hi Hannah,

We were drawn from the pool on the 18th August and within 5 day's we had the letter. After that we had to wait until 19th November for the ITA to drop through the door. Decision Successfull showed up on the website about 5 days before ITA arrived. All in all 3 months for us.

We put in our EOI 6/4/05, drawn from the pool 13/4/05, saw decision successful on website 11/5/05 and received ITA in post 14/5/05. All in all about 5 weeks from first submitting EOI. Good luck!

Hi Hannah,

Please be aware: these reactions are all from UK people. This is the reason I was so very optimistic, but got very frustrated after all. It really is a different story when you apply from another country I have been told.

Anita

OK from Indonesian who lives in US, the timing between sumitting EOI to get ITA was couple of months I think. I forgot, but it's not as fast as the English people for sure.

My timeline is below. I think it's fair to NZIS to point out that, even for many (most?) UK candidates with no job offers, the whole business took a lot longer for those of us who were drawn some time between roughly Sept. '04-Nov. '04. Drawings after this era seem to have beneiftted in many cases from NZIS' better acquaintance with the numbers of EOIs that the low pass mark was generating.

If you look back to the Autumn '04 postings, I think you'll see a number of even UK folks who had to wait many weeks at each or at some stage.

What may be quite telling is to look at the pattern of how different NZIS offices handle applications. The London office tends to have its pattern and its own somewhat predictable strengths and delays at various stages of handling an application; the Bangkok folks another pattern/rhythm, etc.

Hi Hannah,

If you ever find that can of patience, can you let me know where? :smile

I submitted my EOI on 20/5/05 and my status changed to Selected on 25/5/05. Since then my status has not changed, I haven't received a letter and the ITA hasn't arrived. According to the NZIS staff in San Francisco, this is still within their normal timeframe and it may take a couple more weeks - and I shouldn't worry. Maybe it takes longer here than in the UK :?

Hi all, thanks for your replies :nice1
I'm trying to find that "pattern", as I was wondering if there was one at all...
It's now a month ago that we submitted our EOI and we did not get a successful on site..
Will have to wait, cause I have found a small can of patience ;)
Still looking forward to other's replies :clap

Hi Hannah

We sent off our EOI on 2nd March 05,
EOI selected 16th March 05, and it seemed an awful long time until the
ITA came 10th May. We are now nearly ready to send everything back but have spent a long time searching for the patience can.

If Gary's job offer comes through then we will change our status and I think that may speed things up.

I'm getting paranoid about checking and double checking everything and have taken to wandering round the house clutching certificates and forms :typing and spending hours researching this, that and the other.

We don't have a house to sell, we rent and our contract is up in October but if things change we would scrape the money together to honour the landlord ( cause they are lovely and we are not that sort)

Reading other's stories on here is brilliant, I feel involved with all the ups and downs and hope to learn a lot more ( ie patience ) too.

Our timeline is below. Got the ITA one month after EOI selection. We didn't expect it to be so fast, so were in shock for a bit. We're still collecting paperwork for the AFR. I don't know if we were selected so quickly because of our skills (geologists with experience in contaminated sites). I read that NZ's environmental programs are gearing up, and they need experienced workers. We hope to delay going over for about 10 months, so we can take care of a couple of things without needing to fly back for them.

Thanks Smiler and Selchie too, now it seems there's no pattern at all to these times, very confusing, but I guess I'll have to live with it!

Apparantly it's kinda busy there and it might take them another fortnight to get the ITA's out... :(

Hi Hannah, I know I've talked timings with you before, but I just wanted to chime in with a CONGRATULATIONS! on your Decision Successful. You can at least take heart in the knowledge that they approved everything in your EOI, and the ITA will arrive... it's just a matter of when.

:clap :clap :clap

Thanks Jessica!
I surely have learned the hard way to show more patience by this waiting, but am now able to let it go a bit.
Waiting for that mail to arrive won't be that bad, now we know it's on it's way :smile

Hi Hannah,

Guess what? My status has also changed to Successful! I was beginning to worry :uhoh

It'll be easier to wait for the ITA knowing that it will be on it's way some time in the near future. :P

It's funny that some people who have applied through an EOI this year feels as though they have waited a long time (don't get me wrong I'm sure you felt every minute of it). It's just that last year we put our EOI in on may 3rd or something. The points didnt come down to us until september 1st and we didn't get our ITA until the first week in January!

I think that's the main reason why we are so desperate to leave, we have been on the hook now for soooooo long. I wish I could have done up and sold my house last year in the knowledge that we would have definately got the ITA and then the PR stickers, but what can you do!

I can honestly say that I have felt every minute pass since may last year, I even plotted and analysed the results every fortnight in an attempt to give ourselves some sort of timeline. Here I am now waiting for our sale to progress and trying to get my notice period reduced and I am feeling every second tick by!

I can't say how many lottery tickets and scratchcards weve bought in the vain hope that we could jet off earlier.

I can only say that using this forum has both educated me and given me a much more realistic view of NZ and at the same time kept me sane............although that last one's up for debate!....neep!

Hello,

I thought I'd place an update on this thread. I received my ITA today. It was dated July 4th, which is also the date the website was changed to 'Successful'. It came from the London office.

EOI submitted 20/5/05

Congratulations on receiving your ITA - hope it all goes smoothly from here. We submitted our ITA to London nearly 2 weeks ago and the waiting is already driving us mad and we've probably got weeks and weeks to go yet... Still, nobody ever said it would be quick.
