Hi everybody, I just received my ITA application package and on the checklist it says I must submit NZQA full assessment  . I had done preliminary evaul while submitting EOI and I was granted level 9 by NZQA. My question is I have a bachelor and master's degree from USA. My profession is under recocnized skills in NZ. Yet, why is NZIS asking for full assesment. Isn't sending certified copy of my diplomas and transcript to NZIS should be sufficent?

It's a process that seems to raise many similar questions on the forum. Both my wife (nursing) and I (teaching) had to submit our qualifications for full NZQA assessment as part of the ITA process - but then we do need it as part of registration to NZ Professional Bodies. It is a bit bizarre when I look at my degree that it has been to the other side of the world without me!

And it never even sent a postcard......

Any qualification that is not issued by a reconised institute requires a full NZQA assessment for ITA purposes and at least a preliminary assessment for EOI purposes.

This is not made very clear on either the NZIS' or the NZQA's websites, but is is there. It caught us out when we received our ITA! Luckly our case officer at the NZIS was very understanding and let us submit our ITA without it. We then forwarded the NZQA assessment when it arrived.

Cheers,

Chris.

That's odd, Uniqueguy. We didn't even need the English language evaluation. In our EOI, I wrote something to the effect of "English as first language. All instructon, other than foreign language classes received in English". Our ITA cover letter, I believe, said that we could ignore that requirement, even though it was on our checklist. Perhaps you could contact your friendly NZIS liason and clarify this.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I received my degrees from a well known university in the USA. I think I'll email my CO to check if he will let me submit the application without NZQA evaulation ;) .
