Just wanted to get some info from all you knowledgable people and recommendations (always better than booking blind) We are planning to travel 31st dec - found some decent flights with singapore airlines (you lot seem to think they are the best! :clap ) fly from manchester at 10.00am land in singapore at 7.00am two hour ish stopover then from singapore 8.55 am to land at AKl 23.45.

Re stopover is it best to have a short stopover just to stretch legs etc then get on with it and get there or would you recommend an overnighter? (6 people travelling 3 adults, 3 children will be 10, 8 and almost 2!)

When we get to Akl we want to stay for a couple of nights in a hotel/motel/apartment before picking up a motorhome. Any places that you can recommend, resonable price, suitable for familys would be appreciated (before I start trawling!)

I would definately have an over night, Singapore airline usually offer these free.

We did this both ways and highly recommend it, as it gives you a decent night sleep between flights.

Yeah - I agree with Jo. A stopover in Singapore would always be my main choice. Alas hubby got in on the act when booking tickets and he's a definate "lets just get there" kind of chap. We're on the same flight times as you (but not the same dates).

However, at least we arrive at night so we can go straight to the motel and crash rather than trying to stay awake for a few hours to adjust our body clocks.

As for motels in Auck. We're just having one of the hundreds that are by the airport ...... there's literally heaps to choose from.

I would recommend a stopover, especially with children.

We had short stopovers on the flight out but stopped over in Dubai for 8 hours on the way back to the UK and it made such a difference. We were almost human when we got to heathrow :wah

When we make the final journey back ( god and nzis willing) we will stop over which ever way round the world we decide to go.
