Hiya,
weve been recommeded by our travel to have tetanus, polio, typhoid and hepititus A jabs before our holiday.
Has anyone else bothered with these?
Should we have them just to be on the safe side??

We had to have them few years ago, it was more in case of a emergency landing somewhere, rather than the destination.
Are you flying via Singapore/Asia? That may be the reason they are recommending it, we flew via LA and did not get this recommendation.

you should have Polio and Tetanus up to date in the UK anyway ?
I wasn't aware that Typhoid was an issue as far as Singapore was concerned, no idea as for Hep A although I had this vague idea that B and C were more crucial.
I only recall the Tetanus andPOlio stuff as I they seem to be administered together and I had to keep Tetanus up to date because of work.

Some research required.

Hep B is probably more crucial that A or C, it's a bit rife in NZ apparently. It's on the NZIS medical forms as one of the ones that you 'must' have before even leaving for NZ - it might be a good idea to check the list on the medical form? Our doc in the UK also overlooked the Hep B requirement, so we are now having to get it in NZ. As the nurse said to me, you may not be planning to swap bodily fluids with anyone in NZ that might have Hep B - but what happens if you are in an accident and trying to help someone, and you both have open wounds...? the way the kiwis drive it seems all too possible!!
