Ok, so if you thought your shippers were truly awful and wouldn't recommend them to anyone, vote now! :?

I voted John Mason. HOWEVER, I have to say teh UK side was excelent. The pakers were wonderful, and we spent 3 days relaxing while they did all the work.
We had problems with the NZ side of things - the company Allied Movers (as opposed to Pickfords) were awful at keeping us informed and getting back to us. We only got anything done by sending emails to our rep in the UK nad getting him to shout at them.
Also, we understand that John Mason are refusing to stop using NZ Van Lines as an NZ contractor, and they are known to rip you off on MAF fees. Allied movers probably did povercharge slightly, but the bill was $150 (which is the same as Crown are charging for a 2nd delivery). Ive heard of NZ Van lines charging hideous prices. John Masons have been saying for ages they are looking into it - but as yet seem to have done nothing - and it looks like its bec ause they get too much business of Van Lines going the other way.
So far no complaints with crown. It did take them 3 attempts to deliver 4 boxes from our conatiner - but they have given a bit a free storage to compensate - so I cant really complain.

If anyone is shipping out from the Yorkshire area - PM me about packing/shipping. We used a small, local company and they were excellent. Half the cost of the big boys, very helpful and understanding of how stressful the situation is when emigrating. It all went very smoothly, everything arrived safely, MAF were happy and so were we. They have even kept in touch with us to see how we have settled into our new life here!

I've voted for PSS - not because of PSS - they were wonderful & packed everything perfectly - no damage but because of their 'sister' company in NZ - NZ Vanlines - useless!!! The other people complaining about NZ Vanlines have all been from Wellington so anyone moving to Welly - don't recommend to use them - anywhere else - everyone seems to have had a good experience - just the Welly lot that are useless!

Diny-
All the reading ive done on this - make sure you get your MAF bill direct from MAF and pay them. Do NOT pay NZ Van lines - you will be charged 2-3 times the proper rate.
If they have already arranged the inspection - you can ask to see the MAF invoice before you pay. Make sure it is the MAF invoice and not an invoice for MAf fees from NZ vanlines.
Alternatively - you can always ask MAF to visit you at home and do the inspection. Not sure of the costs for where you are - but it may be worth a look.
MAF fees should be below $150 generally speaking.
