hello, folks, happy Middle Autum's Day!

this is Luke from China.

and Middle Autumn Day is a traditional festival in China. we eat Moon cake on that day.

some people even referred it as Moon Cake's Day!

it is on Aug 15th by chinese traditional calendar. that's Sept 28th in 2004

it is said the distance between the Moon and the earth is the shortest on this day.

so the Moon looks bigger than ever.

is it?

i will visit NZ on Nov and will take a tour all over the country.

just to say goodbye to NZ.

my wife and i decided to come back to China after that.

and hopefully, we will go back to NZ and settle down there.

we both love CHCH very much.

and we love this forum too.

happy moon cake's day!

Happy Moon Cakes Day!

We shall go out and see if the moon is big :nice1

It is certainly larger than in the UK when it rises here....

I wonder if some of the local Chinese restaurants will be having special Moon Cake menu???

Welcome to the forum Luke... you will like it here :P

Happy moon cakes day friedman. That title is so much more fun than our "May day" etc.
Moorf. Talking of things astral, what do you think of the night skies in NZ? We were spellbound by the stunning views of the milky ways, and it really felt like you could reach up and pluck the stars from the sky.

Hiya Timbo...

We were spoilt in Scotland as we lived in the middle of nowhere and the skies were amazing - used to lie on my back on the decking and count shooting stars (except in winter when it tended to ice up and I stuck to the decking :laugh )...

Have to admit we haven't been out stargazing yet... might just go and have a butchers this evening :nice1 Be interesting to see which constellations are in the skies here.... hope my friend Orion is here ;)

How're you doing by the way? Have you re-started the immigration process again??

I am well thanks Helen. We are going to small claims ct. with the agent, which is something I could really do without to be honest.
Will be putting in EOI onc\e I have confirmed a job offer with builder in Tairua area (keep everything crossed).
If things dont pan out that way, we are selling up and coming out regardless. I am SURE the work is there, so confident we can make it work.
Cheers for now. Tim

Wow - everything is crossed for you Tim... keep us posted...

Sorry to hear about going thru the courts etc - been there before when trying to evict a previous tenant of mine and it's a royal pain....

Here in Chch, and even in our short 4 days here, we have constantly heard from house owners how difficult it is to get a builder !!!! Maybe you could come down South first to get your foot in the door?

I remember celebrating Moon Cake day in Hong Kong in Discovery Bay, Lantau Island. Moon cakes and lanterns on the beach, it's a special memory.

Cheers - Sandra

Hi, Moorf,

You will find Orion. He is upside down, but he's there!! Orion is one of our family names, so the constellation is important to us, too.. I knew I could live with the different sky in NZ so long as I could find him there -- and I did!!! :D

All the best, Rae

Spooky - I always look for Orion wherever I am in the world - it's my egyptology fetish and perhaps a past life :yes

Hi, everyone!

Thank you Moorf, I am sure that the local Chinese restaurants will be having special Moon Cake menu tonight.  And you can check it! Haha . BTW, compared with China, moon cake is expensive in NZ. :no
See the Moon? Much bigger than usual? Sure! :hopeso

Timbo, what’s “May Day” in UK? Will the Moon looks smaller? ;)

Sandra, so you must have stayed in Hongkong for a while? I am now living in shenzhen city, which lies very close to Hongkong-----just a little river named Shenzhen River seprate Shenzhen from Hongkong. Shenzhen is now another Hongkong in south China. Moon Cake Day is a very important festival in China. It stems from about 700 yrs ago, maybe.
Enjoy your re-union with your husband and have fun in PN. :nice1 :nice1

Now, see the BIG Moon in the sky? :laugh :laugh :laugh

It is 15:00 in china. I must wait for 4—5 hours more to watch the moon. Haha .
:laugh :laugh

I am wearing red today because it's lucky according to my chinese friend.

Another lucky thing to do today is to open your doors and windows to let good fortune come in (just be sure no burglar takes advantage of it).
