Get your registration sorted out ASAP ! it appears straightforward but its not always and you are dependant on a lot of other people doing what you ask them to do.

You can get it sorted right at the start of the whole process and just apply for a pract cert just before you plan to move.

Its one less thing to think about and I spend my day working with candidates who, for what ever reason, have had their registration delayed. No registration and no work visa because valid NZ reg is required with the job offer.

You don't want to end up like some of my candidates and have your house sold, move all in place, job offer etc and not be able to get the visa because your reg isn't through and it happens.

It costs about £80 plus costs of getting transcripts and police certificates. For anyone who trained years ago it may take some time to find out who exactly can provide you with the transcript of your training, its usually the university now.

Hope it helps some of you.

Michelle

PS I would also advise and Physios, OT'S ODP'S etc to do the same. Physio reg can take up to a year to come through !

Hi Michelle. Hope you can shed some light for me. Sarah (OH) is training towards NVQ3 as a care giver with Bupa. Do you happen to know if this is likely to stand her in good stead in NZ, and would any form of registration be required.
The requirements shown in the care giver vacancies that I have seen out there, seem to be quite different to UK.
Also, I cant find any representation of Bupa within NZ, only in Oz. Any clues.
Ta muchly in advance.

Hi Timbo and Sarah

BUPA haven't reached New Zealand yet, I know because I used to work for them in the UK and looked into it.

I would say any qualification obtained in the UK will look good on your CV however I am unsure as to the NZ equivalent- if there is one ! I have asked one of my colleagues who deals specifically with care workers and will let you know. There is no registration that I am aware of gain I have asked for you.

One thing I can assure you is that there is no shortage of work out here for people with good experience.
