Myself and my husband are in the early stages making plans to move to Auckland hopefully (if all the paperwork and our house sale goes ok) late next year or early 2007. We live in Lincolnshire at the moment, and we have a dog and a cat :clap :clap
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi everyone Just to say Thanks for the welcome, Paul is in the process of applying for transfer to New Zealand. The process takes a while, Once we know where we are with that we will probably start visa applications, or should we be starting them as early as possible. Its all new to me.
Its all still quite daunting but we have talked about emigrating to New Zealand for five years, Now Pauls work has provided us with an opportunity, Its finally decision time. We both said theres not much keeping us here :clap :clap

Hi

I'd start the process now, it seems to take ages. At least you would have everything in place when the transfer comes through, rather than rushing around headless chicken stylie.

Any idea how how long the transfer process will take?

Just to give you some idea we have had to wait 6 weeks for our doctors appointment, + another 2 for blood test results, 6 weeks for police certs etc.

Once everything is through you get 2 years in which to go ( someone correct me if I'm wrong please)
Go for it.

Deborah

Hi Paul and Sam, Cat and Dog

Welcome.
As others have said - put the house on the market now - or re-examine your finances, how much it would bring in in rental and decide to rent it out instead.

And, check out the various threads on "exporting" animals - not as cheap as you would imagine and quite stressful for the animals and their "parents"

I wish we still had our cats but we had to rehome them in the UK a few years ago due to OH's asthma. Shame they'ld have loved it here.

Good luck

Jon
