Hello everyone,
I was just wondering does NZ TV show tennis tournaments, such as Wimbledon, US open, OZ open, and French?? or maybe smaller tournaments. Reason I am asking, cause it's seems that NZers sport pretty much like rugby and else. (correct me if I'm wrong).

There's a wide variety of sport shown on NZ TV, particularly if you take Sky which has 3 Sky sports channels and ESPN, not to mention a channel dedicated to Rugby and one which appears to consist of round the clock horse racing.
On free to air TV the choice is less, but still certainly not totally dedicated to rugby.
Rugby, Rugby League (which are are two totally different sports, by the way), Netball, Golf and Cricket are probably the most followed sports in NZ, and as a result more air time is devoted to these than other sports. But other things do get airtime, especially if NZers are contenders.
Go to the Sky website (www.skytv.co.nz) to see what the current offerings are... (whatever did we do before the www?)

Wimbledon is currently being shown on Prime, late in the evening, about midnight, for a few hours most nights. :nice1
Prime is free, but don't think you can get it in Sumner due to reception probs.... we couldn't, perhaps on the hills you can?

Nah, no reception up the hill. It's included in the basic Sky package, though.
We also don't get CTV, although I can't decide whether this is a good thing or a bad thing...

Xanctus, I'd get sky sports - although you only get SS1 2 you also get ESPN - which is good for soccer, although the annoying Irish Tommy Smith ison it :wah
Wimbledon is on but after speaking to people about general TV entertainment its not a case of "......did you see this last night..." either they all go the pub or go to freinds for the evenings if there are kids.
I'm enroling in a Tennis club come September so will have an output there - the opportunity was'nt available in the UK, here in the eastern suburbs I have a choice of 4 - :nice1
Definatley not couch potatoes here.

George - CTV is terrible so don't go moving so you can get reception! :laugh :laugh
The kids would probably like C4 though - free music channel - I love it cos it gets Popetown, South Park and, starting next week FUTURAMA!! :clap :clap I get to watch it from the start again! :nice1
Oh, and Dr Who starts on Prime next week (or is it this week.. argh, better check!).
:nice1

When we first got here we rented for a while in Huntsbury and we could get CTV there. One thing I did like was a programme called 'The Knackered Chef' - it had this famous (in NZ) journalist chatting to a guest whilst they were cooked a meal by a different chef each week from a local restaurant. Not at all as tacky as it sounds as the host (?Jim Hopkins?) is very switched on and very entertaining.
Oh, yes, and they also had the occasional classic black and white film which was worth watching.
And ( ) I also have to admit to watching the local shopping magazine programme once or twice. It was so unbelieveable that it had a sort of magnetic pull - how on earth can you, in the 21st Century, have a greengrocer on TV (the Funky P man) talking at length (with exhibits) about this weeks special offers?
Round about Christmas they have short spots by local school choirs singing Christmas carols (pretty much like Classic FM used to do on the radio in the UK) and we had to get someone to video when our girls were on.

NZ tv's............Crap  sorry. Really dire , endured almost 2 hours of netball last night. The up side was the fact the silver ferns beat the Aussies.
But having said that ,again the up side ,is the kids are out more, or play more together. The tv,s on for sponge bob ,and new Simpsons and malcom in the middle, and that's pretty much it.
Don't want to give money to Murdoch, he's got enough as it is.(imo)
Happy viewing!
