Heavy rain forecast

MetService says heavy rain in parts of Northland, Coromandel Peninsula, Mt Taranaki Nelson

5 July 2005

Rain warnings have been issued for many areas of New Zealand.

A slow moving low is making its way across the country, with forecast heavy rain in parts of Northland, the Coromandel Peninsula, Mt Taranaki and Nelson.

MetService is predicting up to 200 millimetres may fall on the Coromandel Peninsula tonight and tomorrow, while up to 100 millimetres is possible in the Far North. A similar amount of rainfall is forecast for the Nelson region and Mt Taranaki.

People in those areas are being warned to prepare for fast rising river and stream levels.

Thanks Timbo for that....It's raining it's pouring!!!! :wah

I don't think I have ever seen in the UK the torrential rain we have had here since last night for such a prolonged period of time, and it is still not letting up! I think we have had the annual quota of rain in less than a day! :(

The roads are like rivers and the rivers are like the sea! I have lost count the amount of times I have got wet this morning dropping the children to all their regular Wed morning activities and doing the shopping! :wah :wah

Roll on school holidays...it can rain as much as it likes then!!! :P
