Hi all

To continue our very long thread:
http://www.emigratenz.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=39851

the weather of the past few days has been 'slightly damp' to put it mildly, there's currently around 1/2" of water standing on the fields at Tatton Park. This could make for an interesting game of water based rounders :laugh :laugh

Anyway, looking and listening to the local forcast leading upto the weekend things ARE set to improve. Friday should be a dry day, followed by better weather on Saturday :P :P So let's all keep our fingers crossed, we should be ok.

I'd like to suggest that we make a call on Friday afternoon (via this thread), whether it's going to be Tatton Park or our usual meeting place of the Salt Cellar, just incase the forcasters get it wrong for a change :uhoh and it throws it down on Saturday.

Soooo looking forward to seeing you all though, I think that wherever we end up meeting, we're going to have a ball ;)

Weather's looking good for Saturday, so hopefully it should be ok!! By the way, we've got satnav, so we'll find Tatton Park no bother I'm sure, but is it easy to find the entrance you were suggesting we meet?

Anyway, look forward to Saturday wherever it is we end up!!

Hiya Kate, yes the weather is trying - raining out the back, sunny at the front of our house :laugh

As for Tatton Park entrances. If you're coming from the M6 / M56 / A56 direction, which I think you are, singposts will direct you to the Rostherne entrance.

This is closest to the playarea (follow the long driveway, at fork in the road you take a right (signposted farm, hall and possibly even playarea), follow signs for carpark and drive to the far end.

Hopefully we'll have the gazebo up by then with the flag, if not you'll spot a group of people trying to put the gazebo up :laugh

See you in SUNNY Tatton Park on Saturday!

Ta very much for that Babette. I'm sure we'll find it. We have the same thing here looking through my office window - sunny one side and rainy the other. It's freezing though! Crazy weather.

I'll look out for the gazebo (possibly in a flattened state)!!

Hi! I'm assuming we're going with the original plan as the weather is ok today (at least not raining) and the forecast is good for tomorrow.

I'll check here later to make sure that plans haven't been changed.

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Well, the weather report for tomorrow is GOOD :clap :clap Should be around 23 degrees, with excellent ground conditions very suitable to (non-)competitive rounders :laugh :laugh

So see you all there tomorrow, don't forget the picnic blankets, chairs, food etc etc should be a great afternoon :nice1

Can someone give us directions. Looked on the map and found it we will be going M62, M60, M56 ????????????? I'm sure we can find the park itself but if someone can give us precise directions to where the NZ camp will be?!

Just baking some 'weetabix' cookies for you to try too - so best not be on here too long or they will be black!!!

Just had thought and come back to edit this (after checking the cookies)

WHAT TIME?

I've just got back from a session of sports massage. Getting up early for my 26 mile jog and then I have a pre-match session with my rounders coach (but hey ...... not that I'm gonna need it .......I am the double rounder champ after all)

Sorry ..... no home baked goodies from the Norrie household. Mum came over today and cleaned my oven and gave me strict instructions NOT to use it again. Thank gawd for Asda and their fine selection of picnic munchies.

Anyway Kim and your team of 'non-winners' ...... we're gonna open a can of wup-ass !!!!

Marcia,

Simple enough. Come off at J19 and follow A556 signposted Northwich follow to the Traffic lights. Turn left at these lights, signposted Knutsford/Tatton Park. You will pick up the signs from here. Am unsure about location of entrance, as i think there may be a couple. Sorry about that. Am sure Babette will shed more light on this later.

Kim

Babette & Andy
9th July 2005, 11:10 AM
Hiya Marcia & others

Would suggest ignoring Kim's directions  well intended, but you may end up spending your afternoon in a) Saturday Knutsford traffic around the one-way system, and b) in one of the pubs once you've given up finding the entrance :laugh Though it's just struck me that this is a ploy on Kim's behalf to do with 'THE' match ;)

No seriously, take a quick look at this link with a local map:
http://www.tattonpark.org.uk/general_getting.htm

If coming from the M60/M56/M'chester Airport direction:-
following the signs, turning left at the 'Bucklow Hill' junction onto the B5085 towards Tatton Park and Knutsford (if coming from M6 J19, follow A56/A556 towards Manchester and turn right onto the B5085); windy road with amazing 'Manors', straight after petrol station on left, turn left and after a mile or so you'll get to the Rostherne Entrance to Tatton Park (nearest to the playarea); after paying admission (£4 per car I think) continue along the lane and at fork in road take a right towards the Mansion and Farm; follow signs to the carpark and park towards the end. The carpark is adjacent to a large childrens playarea and many fields.

We'll aim to be there for 12.30 and will start putting up the gazebo on the field at the end of the playarea / carpark.

Hope this helps, but if you get lost, by all means give me a call: 07729 883674

Look forward to seeing you all, don't forget your suntan cream :cool :cool

What a wonderful crowd of people you all are. :smile We were a little nervous coming out to meet a group of relative strangers  but we have had a fab afternoon, :clap the kids have really enjoyed it, (thanks Nicola and Elaine for taking Emerson off our hands for a little while to give us a break.)

It was great to put faces to names on here but I'm still trying to match up a few wives and hubbys (were you all swapping???) and also those members who have different log in names, to their real ones.

Ayrton was impressed with himself for getting a rounder but is deflecting and joining Jo's team next time (what did you bribe him with?) :exit

Once again would like to say what a brilliant day out, you can't ask for more, great crowd of people, lovely location, good food (and tons of it!) :cheers , and a fantastic sunny day too.

We had a brilliant day, if that is a president for the NZ ones then I can't wait.

Great meeting all the newies, I hope that when we are in NZ and you are still in UK continuing the journey getting there that you guys pick up the batton and keep 'em going because it would be great to know that after emigrating 12,000 miles we will all have some friends to turn to.

Thanks again everyone and Diny great journey over there hope you can still log on at your Mum's

No worries matey .... as from this afternoon I will be using my laptop :nice1

What a great day yesterday. Still can't quite get over the amount of food, I'm sure we brought back just as much as we took with us. On the way to the picnic I was telling the kids to eat as much as they could becuase we don't have any food left in the house now :laugh There's a picture somewhere of Henny with bags of crisps under his hat and up his jumper trying to sneak them out. No no .... I would never teach my kids to be underhand

To be honest, I just could not afford the time to come to the picnic yesterday but I knew that wild horses wouldn't have kept me away. I'm so glad that we did come, it was exactly what I needed, time out to focus on the resaons why we're putting ourselves through all this hassle and madness.

You lot are great .... and as for the celebration bubbly that got handed out ......... what better.

Wonderful to see so many new faces - what a turnout. Has anybody worked out how many of us were there. I reckon there was about 40.

I agree with Jo .... I really hope that these meetings continue on the 'other side'. And let's see if NZ can match the scorching hot weather we had too :?

Will post my pics later.

John,

The NW crew always have a cracking time when we meet up. Just counted 39 adults and children on the last pic. There were one or two, there again maybe 10 missing either not in frame or not at the meet altogether. So we do have a good crew, and i would like to think that everyone of us will be making that move sooner rather than later, and we can keep these meets going.

We now have the NZ flag which Diny kindly donated. We intend to have every family sign it when one leaves, and Diny started the process yesterday. So, the last standing member of the NW crew(and we keep getting new ones added at each meet) will bring it across with them and we can hoist it at one of the meets over there, to say we have all eventually arrived. :nice1

Hi All!

We had a great day last day Sat. (apart from needing 4prs of eyes! and the tantrums!) It was nice to put a face to the many names although like others have said I still can't remember who's who  Sorry for it taking so long to reply and for not being able to stay to the end of the day on Sat, but Phils step-dad has been very ill the last few weeks and sadly died this morning. The MIL can't drive so we had to give her a lift to the hospital when we got back on Sat. I promise we wasn't trying to avoid "Rounders"

Kim39 & Elaine, Bad news re. THAT Company :( I hope something happens for you really soon (Fingers crossed emoticon should be here! :laugh )

Jo B, Sorry we have no lost hat here either! It was great to finally meet you though :nice1 Did you manage to get that group of NZ's to join the rounders match?

Diny, Glad you made that flight :clap and I will keep my fingers crossed that your house sale progresses really smoothly :nice1 I am looking forward to reading your posts from NZ :nice1
