Hi Folks,

Just a quick question and I'm sorry in advance if this has been asked before.

I'm trying to get a visa for myself and my wife under the skilled migrant scheme and we are currently getting our EOI completed. Whilst we are waiting for the EOI, I wanted to start to gather up all of the required documents that are needed if our EOI is accepted. (This takes longer for us as my wife is French so she needs everything translated).

So I was wondering if there is a list of the documents anywhere that are required after the EOI is accepted. I'm claiming points for a degree in the absolute skills shortage list and having 8 years experience in that field of work.

Is my final degree certificate enough? My university is on their recognised list of degrees or do they need a full list of each subject and score from each year?

Will they also require me to have statements/contract from my previous employeers?

Anything else? Medical's or something?

Sorry if this is silly questions, but I don't seem to be able to find a list of what is required after the EOI is accepted.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi there,
Sorry I can't say what you will need due to your wifes nationality but below is a list of things we were asked to submit, (visa application via an agent). All original docs were certified by a JP and copies sent. We sent everything in as part of our EOI, prefering to get it done upfront and we have just recieved our ITA and NZIS are not asking for any additional papers other than police cert and medicals. These are time limited so we were advised to wait until ITA to get these done.

Full passport for everyone on application
Passport photos for EOI plus 2 more identical ones for medical at later date.
Birth certs for everyone, the long version ( the one with both of your parents name on it)
marrage cert + evidence of a genuine relationship so bank statements or joint named bill from min. 12 months ago and a latest one. Having two children with my OH didn't count !!
Graduation certs for all my higher education qualifications, breakdown of the course was NOT needed.
Confirmation of start and finish dates from all the empolyers I was claiming relevant experience for.

This will give you plenty to get on with I'm sure. No doubt others have submitted a different list of documents, its' all about what will satisfy the person who picks your EOI out of the pile.
Good luck.

Hi Debbie and Hannah,

Many thanks for both of those posts. Both really helpful and helped me understand alot more on what else was required. I find it incredible that they accept a bank statement as having a relationship rather than 2 children........

Just a quick question. When you said "confirmation of start/end dates from employers", what format did that confirmation take? Was it simply a stamped letter from the Human Resources department of the companies, detailing those dates?

I've just realised that my wife's degree isn't on their recognised list of uni's as the french education system is so different. So looks like we have to get that recognised first by the NZQA.

Many thanks once again.

Cheers

HI Starkhorn,
I simply asked either the HR dept or in 1 case my old manager to write a letter on headed paper giving my name my job title and the start and finish dates and to state who they were. One of my jobs had a title which did not portray what the job entailed so I asked the HR dept to put in detail that would clarify this. I felt it needed to be clear to a NZIS worker how had no experience of social care why I was claiming this job as relevant to my claimed skill shortage, (social work).
Re the children not counting as proof of relationship, I suppose they prove that my OH and I were together 9 months befor they were born but don't prove that I haven't since left him to pursue Brad Pitt as my play thing!
