Hi all
Sorry in advance, I have searched for the answer to this but am now :uhoh
After yesterdays horrendous events, Paranoid Pete has banned me from trekking up to kiwi House to hand our ITA in.
I'm loathe to put our whole identities in the hands of Postman Pat ( Pete's cousin ) or a courier. Does anyone know if you hand it in at NZ House whether they give you back your original documents there and then or still keep them.
I've seen on here that you can take a ticket and see a real person to hand over to and they will check it. That's another reason for going.
Help or advice needed please, the application is burning a hole in my dining room table.

take your original documents with photocopies and your case officer will check them, keep the copies and you can take your originals home.

Yup - the big advantage of taking your ITA in person is getting your originals back the same day. You also get someone looking it over to see if everything is there - we felt it was worth it for peace of mind. However, this was a couple of months ago and yesterday changes alot of things!!

Hi Both
That's good news thank you. In which case our application will have to sit here until
a) I'm 'allowed' up to town on my own :wah
or
b) when Gary goes up on the 20th :?
I don't know if my nerves will make it til then.

I'd recommend doing it - I handed ours in to our case officer who was going on a month's holiday the next week - I had a chance face-to-face to reiterate our flight dates & the urgency and to guage how long she thought the process would take.
We had everything including visas delivered to us within a week (obviously speed of processing depends on your circumstances etc.) I left our originals and one set of photocopies with them marked up all in separate folders which she seemed impressed with as it probably cut down her workload & we got all the original docs back via special delivery or courier.

I'd do it sooner than later, sometimes you just have to do things and not worry about them, whether it is a trip up or registered post. I have a feeling there may be a big influx of potential immigrants heading towards NZ house after the events of the last few days.

When we handed ours in (a few year ago now and on the very old points system) we gave them 3 sets of photocopies. All cross referenced, itemised and each set bound. Although we sent ours in via courier (we only had four hours to get them in before the points changed), we got our originals back within a few day's. It certainly pays to make sure that everything is easy to find for them. That way they can give you your 'life' back ASAP.

To ensure you don't pee off the immigration teams DO NOT put stuff in plastic folders! I asked my Case Officer why this was, and he said that plastic folders / covers don't make for good "stacks" and that they are usually responsible for a pile of ITA's sliding off his in-tray! :laugh
