to our beloved Brits

our prayers and condolences to the families and friends of those who perished in the london blast, and we pray also for the whole of england and the united kingdom. this is all we can do, from our part of the world. we hope it won't reach your parts of the world too.

you think this will increase the rate of migration from UK to NZ?

God bless

Thanks for your kind words, yes what a crazy world we live in. What surprises me most is that I wasn't shocked.

I do think this will increase applicants to NZ, most definately.

Thank you for your kind wishes. I don't think it will make a difference to the number of migrants to other countries. Emigration (especially 12000 miles away) is a serious business and not something to be decided on a whim because of a one-off event. I appreciate that this will now increase people's fears about further attacks, but I don't think that people will make such a life changing decision on that basis and if they did they'd have done it by now, we've had the fear of attacks since before the Iraq war. Apart from anything else we lived with the IRA in the 70s and 80s and we Londoners take it in our stride.

Thankyou so much for your kind words Annie, and the same to all of those overseas who have expressed similar sentiments.

Just to echo Timbo, Jo and Rummage words. Thank you. Luckily I don't live anywhere near London, but the leafy suburbs of Cheshire. But with that said we had our share of terror in nearby Warrington a while back when it was bombed by the IRA.

Watching the emergency services( i was part of it ) swing into action that day and yesterday, as well as other atrocities this country has seen over the years made me proud to have served the Ambulance Service for 15 years. The boys are so professional when faced with situations such as this, along with Fire and the Police.

hi kim,

i didn't know you served with emergency teams; i know how it is in emergency situations, but not in the category as you are. i usually face emergency in the safe confines of the hospital, but it's still nerve wracking and you don't know anything else apart from that life you are saving at the moment. but i haven't had any experience with situations of the magnitude to which you were involved, i can only imagine. how do you cope after your job is done?

bless you, hope you never lose your strength and courage during the times these are needed.

Annie,

How do you cope after a job? :? good question. The only way, is to put it to the back of the mind and just carry on. The hardest part of the job, is when children are involved. Your mind often wanders if you have children yourself, but you can't really let it effect the situation that you are facing.
The biggest downside is that you don't have time to reflect. As soon as you are released from one job you are then blue lighting it to the next and wondering what is going to face you on that job :no

Stress levels are so high these days that i realised i had to take a drastic turn in my employ, so now i drive HGV's for a living.

I think I should expand on my comment. I believe this will be the straw that broke the camels back for many who have hummed and harred about emigrating. I certainly wouldn't expect people to just up and go because of the bombings, that is not what I meant.

Us Northerners take it in our stride too i.e. Warrington and Manchester
