Well the day to leave the homestead has arrived. What an odd feeling this is.
Will be here most of the week during the day but will be camping out at the olds place.
Can't even start to describe how I'm feeling. I wonder whether this nausea is being caused by excitement, horror or that dodgy bit of ham I found for my tea last night in the back of the fridge. :eek

It is weird isnt it? But at least you are on the move after a couple of false starts.....
Enjoy spending the time with your folks.

Oh boy, do I remember that nausea!!!
Sat in the car on the driveway with the car loaded with the three children thinking...OMG what am I doing!!!! :wah :wah But here we are almost twelve months to the day!!!!
Enjoy your last few days with your folks and sit back and enjoy the ride ;)
Best wishes

The worst feeling is when the container doors get closed, the guy jumps into his cab and you watch your 'life' pulling out of the street.
It's not like moving house because you can't follow it to your new house.
All your possessions, memories etc are disappearing down the road and it's going to be months before you see it all again.

You're really on your way Diny,
Keep smiling - it won't be long before you're there! Moving house is so stressful even in the UK - so god only knows how you're feeling when it's to the other side of the world!
Good luck with the travelling!

Oohhh Diny, all these years of planning, all these past months of extreme stress - and now you're finally in single figures countdown mode :eek
It must seem so surreal, last minute panic attacks, questions of 'what if's', but knowing deep down that this is what you 4 have wanted for so long. It's your turn, very well deserved.
Without doubt your family is rallying around you this week. How wonderful to be able to spend your final days in the UK at your parents amazing house, the house you grew up in. I think a lot of us could only dream of coming from such a supportive family.
Hope all goes well today with the shipping company. Give us a call (when you get a minute over the next day or so), it's so strange not to just be able to pick up the phone and have a natter. Don't forget to PM me your inlaws address details.
Diny, Mark, Fergie & Henry - thinking of you lots - BIG HUGS to you 4 :nice1

As others have said, it's only natural to feel a few jitters, and you've been building up to this for so long now.
Let us all know how it goes, (and did you manage to get any of those margarine boxes into your shipping container? :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh

Mum threw away my pile of tumble dryer fluff :eek :eek :eek
Tuesday morning and the packers are here. 3 young guys (some of us girls have all the luck ;) ). I softened them up with tea and bikkies as soon as they arrived and then left them to it. They say they won'r need the 2 full days packing as we've done so much of the prep for them ('scuse me while I adjust my halo).
At this stage there literally is nothing more I can do. So I'm upstairs in an empty room, cross legged on the floor playing with my laptop.
Had a call from buyer number 2. He went and signed all the mortgage stuff yesterday, his bank are wanting to come and do just a quick valuation on the house either today or tomorrow, and in his words ...... things are moving at break neck speed and looking good. I guess we can't ask for more than that. Still finding it difficult to relax due to the fact that we've been buggered around for the last lord knows how many months (but have to admit to feeling slightly more hopeful each day).
Funnily enough I'm not getting too many jitters. I know NZ and I know it'll be right for us. Yes I'm getting very worked up about missing my family, and getting very weepy about the goodbyes that lie ahead of us but I know that we'll be fine once the last one has been said.
This has been a long time coming, now it's happening and it's an AMAZING feeling.
Well ...... now I have a few housrs to kill ..... what a rare treat !!!!

Don't forget to relax when you get on that plane!
I needed several beers to get out of "full speed ahead" mode and the realisation that we were really leaving didn't come until we arrived in NZ.
Have a great trip and chill!

Wish you, hubby and kids a great time flying over Singapore and Malaysia on your way to NZ...oh yes, you are transiting through Singapore Changi Airport. Are you exiting from the transit area and visit Garden City and do some cheap shopping ? Now is the food festival weeks in Singapore. Can consider visiting Johor too for cheaper cheaper shopping !! :clap
The weather around southern Malaysia and Singapore has been very hot and very humid. It has been raining in the afternoons. So wear light clothings....the humidity can be overwhelming.
There is free internet at Changi airport --- so log on and share with us. :clap :yes :P
Wish you all safe trip. :smile

Well we've moved out of the house altogether. The packers have been there for the last 3 days - can't praise them enough, they were brilliant. The container arrived this morning and was all packed up and gone by 11.30. It sets sail from Felixstowe on Monday.
It was a weird feeling, walking around an empty house - but not too bad.
Tomorrow morning we have an appointment with the solicitor to get the last bit of officialdom signed. Got a couple more visits to make and then that's it.
Had a few mates around for a BBQ this evening and had to say a heap of goodbyes, they were hard but were actually quite jolly (as everybody is very pleased for us and excited about thier forthcoming holidays to NZ). Mum & Dad are getting very sad and I'm at the stage now where I could very easily do a midnight flit and leave a note on the kitchen table ....... not looking forward to the parental goodbyes.
Everything with the house 'seems' to be going really well - still not allowing myself to count any chickens on that one ...... time will tell, keeping my fingers very tightly crossed.
Tonight is our last night in mum & dad's house, we have mixed emotions. I think we'll be OK. The boys were very sad to say goodbye to their best school buddies - a few tears but not as many as we expected.
Will keep you posted. Still can't believe this is happening.

Well, there you go old girl, on the brink of your big adventure!
I have already e-mailed the authorities warning them of your arrival and checked with NZ police about legislation for cherry pip spitting. It is legal as long as you don't actually HIT the passing vehicles.
The dungaree supplier in Dannewirke is ready to take your measurements on arrival. They will give you 10% discount for bulk orders.
Oh yes, finally, one great big hug from the clan here in Liverpool. Can't make it tomorrow night coz the kids are performing on stage in St. Helens Theatre, so next time we'll see you is on the other side.
Best wishes and good luck Norries.....
