Still in the middle of completing EOI, and on checking back with the Points indicator I have a couple of questions.

Under the section dedicated to Relevant Work Experience...

Number of years of relevant experience (anywhere) I HAVE 10 YEARS

Number of years of relevant experience in New Zealand NO EXPERIENCE IN NZ

Number of such years experience in any one of NZ's:

OK THIS IS THE BIT IM INTERESTED IN... I HAVE REAL EXPERIENCE IN ALL OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS, ALL GAINED IN THE UK

* identified future growth areas? YES - BUT GAINED IN THE UK
* identified clusters? YES - BUT GAINED IN THE UK
* areas of absolute skills shortage? YES - BUT GAINED IN THE UK

Was the work experience gained in a comparable labour market? YES - THE UK !

So in short does my UK experience in identified areas of future growth, identified clusters (Information Technology & Comms), and areas of absolute skills shortage give me extra points.

As it is I am standing at 105 points and a few extra would make me feel that much more secure come selection time.

Thanks
Tee

Thanks for the rapid response...

Is that yes to .... I can claim extra points?

Which areas would I be entitled to ?

I must admit I was confused by their classifications:

* identified future growth areas
* identified clusters
* areas of absolute skills shortage

Do I need the correct degree to claim for absoulte skills shortage / future growth area, even though I have worked with all of the technology for 10 years and teach it too (Microsoft Certified Trainer)

Do I need a Job Offer to claim for Identified Cluster ?

Really appreciate the info ;o)
Cheers

We claimed for most of them too with 10 yrs experience (I.T). "Yes" was to "Yes" you can claim the extra points. I don't think you need to worry about having relevant degree/qual for this part of the questionnaire.

We had no job offer and claimed these points. Isn't there another section which refers to job offers in these clusters - this is where you won't be able to claim unless you have a job offer (can't remember off-hand, perhaps someone with a current EOI could help here?)

Thanks Moorf...

Mind firmly put at rest :cool

This whole process is starting to make me feel like a complete idiot !!!
I started out as an intelligent, reasonably well educated 'professional' and after attempting to read NZIS documentation (including the Operations Manual) I now feel unable to objectively validate and comprehend even the simplest facts.

And thats before submitting my EOI - how my sanity will fare by the time we (hopefully) hit ITA will be anyones guess!

I must admit despite still wanting to recheck and rewrite everything for the umpteenth time, I am rapidly approaching I just want it submitted stage.

Is there an official term for 'Wanabe Kiwi Neurosis' ? Its driving me mad. :wah

Thanks again

We were just the same! However, we just did a very "rough" EOI submission online - we didnt fill half of it in, just the necessary points bit!

When you get the ITA you can correct / amend / add info as you see fit so don't panic. I had to ask a fellow forum member via MSN (thanks Jodie) for tips on filling in the ITA - like you, my usually well structured brain turned to mush when confronted with relatively simple questions!!

Don't panic, it will be fine. You'll be selected if you have more than 100 pts (assuming it's still at 100) and then in due course you'll get the ITA by which stage you may even be here and have jobs like we did and will have a ZILLION points :P !

Good luck, don't panic and no question is a silly one on this forum. :nice1 We've all been there!

All the best
