Can anyone tell me if those houses with a metal roof suffer from a lot of noise when it rains?

Suffer? I love that sound! Sorry, but I can't answer the noise question. Perhaps a bit of insulation could dampen the music.
A friend of ours used to live in Keri Keri. She had a metal roof, and had been painting it the day before we came for a visit. The day was sunny, and she wound up burning her bum while sitting on that frying pan of a roof! And she was 82 at the time! My role model.

Well, rain is a novelty here in Christchurch !! :laugh :laugh :laugh But when it does rain then yes, we do like the sound - having said that we would only really hear it if we were in bed anyway as bedrooms are upstairs!
