Sad as it seems, I am on the email lists for the road snowfall warnings. Got this one today:
ARTHURS PASS/PORTERS PASS
Snow is expected to develop about higher parts of the road later this
morning and then lower this evening, before clearing early Friday
morning. Between 9am Thursday and 4am Friday, 10 to 20cm of snow is
likely about higher parts of the road, with 5 to 10cm possible down
to 500 metres.
LEWIS PASS
Heavy snow is expected about higher parts of the road overnight
Thursday/Friday. Between about 6pm Thursday and 6am Friday, 20 to
30cm of snow is likely about higher parts of the road, with 5 to 10cm
possible down to 500 metres.
Wrap up warm!! and avoid going to the west coast!! :exit
