Well today is my last day at work after 6 years working here I went for my"exit" interview , quick chat about reasons for leaving and then it was "right I will need your keys ,staff card, and then I will walk you down to your office to clear out your pesonal belongings"
So no goodbye drinks no sad to see youre going card just out the door like a disgraced employee.
I got more of a response from the students when they finished last week
So dont feel too bad when the time comes for you to leave work as it seems you are forgotten already :(
Oh well shippers turning up next week and it will soon be time for the trip to Heathrow :clap :clap :clap
PS then he said could I leave a forewarding email incase they need my help in setting things off in the new academic year, one bogus email coming up

Never mind Wayne, adults are like that, envy gets in the way of their emotions. All the best for your trip over to the bright side of the planet. Keep us all up to date with the adventure.

Wayne,
WOW, what arseholes your employer has been, without taking this post off onto a foulmouthed rant, i have to say i am sorry to hear the way you have been treated. It does come down to how Debbie described it envy gets in the way of their emotions
The only way to deal with someone like this is to give them thehttp://www.nearlygood.com/smilies/fing37.gif (http://www.nearlygood.com) salute, because this is all they are worth.
Good luck with the move mate.
Kim

I'll second all of the above  mine was a similar situation after 10 years. Quick exit chat, perfunctory wishes for the future, shoved out the door by management. ( Who only remembered I worked there when I was going)
Since leaving in the last 2 months, I have realised where I am better off.
But do you need your old employer? NO!!! :clap
Raise your own glass in salute tonight :cheers oh it's nearly happy hour, I'll raise one with you :cheers
Good luck with the packing etc

That is a pretty poor way to treat anyone I think. You can only be better off without people like that in your life Wayne.
I cant wait to tell my boss to stick his job.

Wayne, it can be quite upsetting when you've worked your butt off for someone & at the end of it all they couldn't give 2 hoots. Companies are more and more forgetting that retention is related to how you treat your staff - sad state of affairs really.
On the bright side - we both work for companies over here that haven't forgotten how to have a good time and show staff they are appreciated (I know all employers are not the same & we're lucky but I think on the whole people seem to care a bit more) - we've been here 6 months & have been on quite a few socials with Ian's work including wine tasting in Marlborough, asian cooking classes, a welcome party for all the people who have arrived in 2005, premiere to see Star Wars & Ian has been on a couple of go-karting evenings.
I posted a while back that our friend who was moving to Auckland had got beaten up before he left the UK - his company at home didn't even phone to see how he was (he was still working for them & I'm not entirely sure he'd handed his notice in at that stage) - his company in NZ who he had only just accepted an offer from phoned to see if there was anything they could do and to wish him well! That basically says it all!!!
Just look forward now :nice1 exciting times ahead!

Total jelously Wayne, and a ,unfortunatly typical British , or maybe English reaction-Shat on people from great heights who try to do things out of the box or make a reasonable go of their lives.
Well from this English person to another- All the best chuck , may your dreams come true!!!!

Wayne, better off out of it mate. Just shows you what a big bunch of anally retentive gobshites people can be. I have been through similar things and it just doesn't add up does it? Work your nuts off for them(ladies insert more appropriate part of the anatomy :laugh ) and get dumped on from great heights. As someone else said, probably jealousy - look back and laugh :nice1

I always say you are just a number no matter how high up the chain you are.
My mum always says work will be there when you are dead and buried.
Don't worry about it mate, it will soon be a distant memory.

Nah, they'll figure that those employees are slacker discontents. My OH is biding time with a boss who drives employees off as if for a hobby. Corporate just won't do anything about her because she's good at marketing. Feh.
