Hello Douglas

It seems that there is a limit in putting the similies and photos because I have this message telling me :

"You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator."

In the old format, there are no limits to the smilies and pictures that we post.

I am feeling  and

Appreciate your much needed help.

Many thanks :clap

Hello everyone,

I have problem with posting and hope that it would take too long to start my new season of the Wattle Cove.

:cheers

Hi Ivy have you tried without the smileys yet, and maybe a limited number of photo's?
Just guessing here... Want me to try to post them for you?

I believe you can only have 2 photo's in a post at a time....

Plus, I too have had problems with the "too many images" message when I have only used smileys and text, and not photos, so I assume there is now a limit on the number of smileys per post  (or perhaps a limit to their number relative to number of characters???) Is there a smiley formula out there?? :laugh

Sorry, I may sound a bit grumpy..........

In the old format, I have been able to put a few photos at one go, showing a sequence of events. Now I could only do 2 photos at each posting - this kills my momentum and enthusiasm :(
Not forgeting that I could not have the smilies if I choose to post photos, vice versa if I have message with smilies I cannot have photo on it - this kills the fun? :no

Is it just me ??? :wah

Blissful Ivy, thanks. I've just had a root canal job done (well half done, got to go back next week for Part 2) and these peaceful pix have quite steadied my nerves!

I have a question. We're immigrating to the Auckland Area and I will be working in the Grafton Area of Auckland. Can you possibly give me an idea of how long it takes you to drive from Wattles Cove to someplace in that vacinity? I currently have a 1 hr commute each way and I'm hoping to reduce that

Welcome to the forum, SpoMini

The location of your workplace is near Auckland CBD and the morning/evening rush hour traffic are pretty bad. You will need more than an hour travel time by car. Most of the employers are very accommodating as they know about the traffic woes here.

These are how my neighbours do to beat the traffic jam :
1) One neighbour works in Eden Terrace (near Grafton) and she avoids the peak hour traffic jam by working on flexi time.

2) Another neighbour works in Newmarket (next to Grafton) and he took a 35-min train ride each way to work every day.

I would advise that you start with rental near your office, get to know the traffic problem there and then decide which location to buy a house.

Good Luck with your move to NZ and your new job :nice1

What is public transport and food shopping, and other local facilities like?
What is it like in the evenings?

The pictures look great but looking at them it screamed suburbia and that you would need to have a car to live there. I've lived in places like them
and they tend to be dead in the evening with very few local facilities.

Am I being too harsh or is Wattle Cove different? If so why?

Rgds.,
Nick.

Hi Nick,

I'm glad that the whole place did not have the hustle-and-bustle of a city which is exactly what we want, TRANQUIL.

Wattle Downs is a pretty small peninsula, less than 7 mins drive from the motorway, you will reach the end of the peninsula.

Have a look at the "grey" colour area of the below map and it comprises the following :

1/3 of it occupy by the one and only dairy farm left, I reckon it will go eventually to give way to more housing development in the near future.

2/3 of it are the new Wattle Cove development including a new primary school, intermediate school, kindergarten, lakes and housing (including the waterfront sections currently on sale).

In the evening, residents are taking the stroll with their children and/or with dogs around the 5 lakes excluding the recreation lake.

For facilities, currently there is a diary (open 365 days) and a takeway. A new restaurant is currently under construction at the 9-hole golf course.

For public transport, there are 2 buses (Bus no. 563 and 453) during the morning rush hour to bring residents to the train station which is about 5 mins ride.
Off peak period including Saturday and Sunday, the Bus no. 453 bring residents to the train station (5 mins ride) and all the way to Manukau City Shopping centre (15 mins ride)

:o Oophs, the bus no. 453 is incorrect, should be bus no. 456.

more info about facilities...........

For Annie, here are the information :P
My hubby is a software engineer and he works in Mt. Wellington. I work as an administrator in Onehunga. The daily commute by car to our workplace is about 30 mins each way during the rush hours.

There are 10 churches including a Catholic church in Manurewa Central which is about 5 mins drive.

Nearby facilities :
- a couple of medical centers and a 24-hour Accident &amp; Medical Clinic
- supermarkets (Foodtown, New World, Woolworth)
- major retail stores, including a DIY store Mega Mitre10
- garden centers

Hospitals managed by Auckland Health Board :
Manukau Super Clinic &amp; Elective Surgery unit (less than a year old) - 15 mins drive
Papakura Maternity unit - 10 mins drive

Facilities at the Manukau City Central (15 mins drive)
1. New convention/event center (3 months old) http://www.pacific.org.nz/introduction.html
2. Theme park http://www.tourism.net.nz/new-zealand/attractions/sightseeing-and-leisure/theme-and-leisure-parks/auckland/rainbows-end/
3. Cinema village
4. Shopping complex and retail stores

Hi Singtel,

THanks for the information. I guess Wattle Cove is not the place for us. We really need to live somewhere where we can survive without a car without getting cut off from shops, pubs, cinemas, and the such. Plus owning a car is an expense we could well do without as well as the environmental cots.

Oh well each to his own. *:)

Rgds.,
Nick.

Hi Nick,
In Auckland, it is the workplace that determine where you will live because of the traffic woes. This will not be a issue if you work from home.

Hi Singel

Thank you for all the information and pictures, keep them coming. It is not a area I have considered to live however still interesting. :nice1

Any one out there in Nelson area, Richmond etc a thread like this would be great, one way of finding out about an area first hand. :)

House looks great by the way and so quick to build. I know you have heating but have you found the house cold.
