OK, all this information may be embedded in other threads, but here goes...

I'm trying to sort out a budget of what the cost of living might be in NZ - let's say Auckland to make things easier. We're a family of 6, children aged 17, 14, 9 and 7.

Assuming we bought a 4-5 bedroom house. What do you think (roughly) would be the cost of:

Private medical cover
Life insurance ($200K joint husband/wife)
Property Insurance
Utility Bills (Gas, Electric, Water)
Phone and Broadband
Council Tax / Rates???
School Fees
Car servicing and road tax etc. (assume 2 cars values approx. $20,000 and $12,000)
Car Insurance
Grocery shopping
Clothes

I appreciate that there are huge variables here, particularly lifestyle preference but, as I say, I'm only looking for ball-park. If you can give any feedback on one or more of these, that would be enormously helpful to us (and I guess many others).

Many thanks

Cardiff. Have you tried out the cost of living calculator on the ENZ home page?

It is a good starting point.

How are you enjoying Auckland? It's where we're considering going and just wondered how you found the transition from Leeds to NZ?

We love it here and there is no comparison between here and Leeds, Auckland is better in everyway. Our lifestyle is so different in many ways and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
