HI everyone Just hought let you know we have survived our first year in NZ and we love it!!

There have been a few sticky moments but there is no going back that's for sure, we are here to stay.

:cheers Good luck to all you going through the process. It is very hard work at times but definately worth it in the end :nice1

Well done Tara :clap

Where did you move from? And what have been the highlights / lowlights of moving? I love hearing about these experiences - helps with all the preparation, anticipation etc. etc. :eek

Ok for those who don't know me, we moved from Gillingham on the Dorset border UK to Rangiora.

We are settled in a lovely 4 bed house on a 744 section.

The country is fantastic we just love the mountains and the fresh air and the weather is generally fab.

My son has settled well into school and his work is coming on nicely, he has made loads of friends. He has also joined the BMX club and the Rugby team both of which he would never of dreamed of doing in the UK.

My hubby and i both work and settled into our jobs nicely.

The down side to us moving is money but don't panic, the wages aren't as good as what we expected but we manage nicely with what we have got.

The quality of life here is high, we are all fitter and healthier than when we left the UK.

I feel like I am waffling on don't really know what to tell you all, so any questions just ask.

Blimey Tara, it seems like only yesterday when I was asking you questions about Rangiora. You had only just arrived then. What a long way we have all come in the last year.

Because of Peter's job we are now heading for Napier/Hastings area, in about 6 weeks time.

Hope the rest of your time in Nz is going to be as good or even better.

What a lovely uplifting post. Thanks very much Tara.
We are currently in headless-chicken mode trying to sort out our last month in the UK; your post has really brought home why we are doing this.
I would love to meet you & Dan again (this time with Debbie & boys in tow!) when we get over.
Cheers,
John.

Thanks for the post Tara, and Congratulations.

One question, had either of you been to NZ before, or was it just a leap of faith.

Thanks and looking forward to joining you out there.

It was purely a leap of faith neither of us had been to NZ, well that is a bit of a lie Dan spent a week here to get a job last may and then we all arrived in July. He was barely here long enough to recover from the jet lag.

Will be great to meet up with you John Deb and the boys just send me a pm

Good Luck everyone we had a great party last night to celebrate our year,

Thanks Moorf Veronica and co we had a great time hope you did too.

Oh yes, Jamie is more than welcome to wear out Summer again - she's been crashed out on the sofa since we got back :clap

I'm half watching Top Gear and half searching for lifestyle / business opportunities ;)

Good luck with that Moorf, I hope to be doing that too, within the next year(s) perhaps?
Say hi to Summer from our doggies! :P

Hannah it's got to that point where we're thinking "hey, we came here for lifestyle - so why are we working normal jobs " :laugh (hmm I guess that should read "why is Woz working a normal job :? )

We need to take that leap of faith and get out and do something that's a challenge and a totally different lifestyle .... that will complete our NZ emigration package ;)

So... anyone here know how to grow wasabi or where I can obtain a sea cucumber farm ( :laugh :laugh one year on and I'm still blabbering on about sea cucumbers!)

Teppanyaki anyone?? :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh

What's Teppanyaki Helen? It it anything like Teriyaki ? I'm planning a suprise BBQ this Friday for Deb (our 20th anniv.) and someone said I should get Teriyaki sauce.........
John

Tara Sage

Not much of a suprise if you put it on the forum :laugh :laugh

Moorf
27th July 2005, 07:22 PM
Nah, they're different - teppanyaki is as per our Christchurch nights out having omlette thrown at you by a chef :laugh :laugh :laugh - where you all sit around a big grill and the food is cooked in front of you - Japanese style.

Teriyaki (sp?) is a sauce used in oriental cooking - easily found in Sainsburys if my memory serves me right. :nice1

Hmmm, still a surprise?!
