I' m sure that I once knew the answer to this question but some days my brain just gives up .Can only accredited employers offer work to an emigrant ? We do not have enough points for PR without a job offer and need a job offer for a visa.A company in Auckland has expressed interest in my OH's expertise and have promised to get back to us with details of a job opportunity within 2 weeks. It would appear that no-one is doing the job there at the moment but it was an area that the company was looking to expand into.
Whilst we are counting the days during these 2 weeks I then wondered whether in fact they could make an offer as they are not an accredited employer and whilst OH does have qualifications they are not relevant to that particular industry , it is what he has been doing for his employer in the UK that they are interested in.
Any insights will as always be gratefully recieved.

You ask the question...Can only accredited employers offer work to an emigrant ?

Answer NO. If a company offers a job offer and it isn't on either skills list, then you will go down the General Work Visa route. This visa is for a 2 year period only, with a possibility of extending it for a further 2yrs.

The company who offers the job has to provide evidence that they have done everything they can to employ someone local. Once it has been proved and the offer is made to you, you can then apply for work visa. The criteria is slightly different.
