my wife has a poor credit rating in the uk, although on entry to NZ we will have no debts and be looking to buy a property with the equity generated here, will this credit history cause problems? any info will be gratefully received. many thanks

Hi Dave

I noticed that no one had replyed to you so thought I would, I really don't know the answer to this one.

We had a mortgage man, discuss all the possibilities with us and he didn't mention checking the UK credit reating, they just wanted proof of income here.

Also when we went to the agancy for our rental accomodation, he simply said well you haven't been here long enough to check your credit rating so I won't bother :?

Sorry if this no help ;)

Hi Dave,

To my knowledge I think you will start with a clean slate. We have not been asked for any kind of references for c/cards or provision of a mortgage or for that matter car insurance....you are taken pretty much at face value!

When we opened our bank account last week the lady said "ohh, your first NZ credit check".... she went to on explain that they don't refer to any UK credit check co's etc so you should be just fine.
