I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to buy an old house in need of TLC (in estate agent talk - to us a "shed"!) with a few acres, and apply for PP to remove it and replace with a new one? (self build, kit home etc..)

Biddy, I see you asked this after Jo B's thread on claiming VAT back, but no one replied. If you found out any info could you please pass it on to me.

Also Timbo, I am hoping you maybe able to help me out with this one :nice1 I might just get my log cabin yet! :laugh

Anyone else who can help? Please share, there must be others who have considered this? My way of thinking is all the services will already be laid on and we will hopefully have a plot that is big enough for us, in an area we want to live in. Also from the prices I have seen so far it seems a slightly cheaper alternative :nice1

Many Thanks
Michelle

Yes,

many people remove old Houses and Build new ones, sometimes its not even an old House that they get removed. As long as you get all the necessary permits etc from the council then it's not a problem. You would have to check height restrictions etc etc.

That sounds a very interesting option and one that we will look into a bit more closely......

What about cost you will pay more for a piece of land with a property already on it.

Michelle, when you get settled can you update this post as to what information you found out regarding your original post below, as this may be the option we have to go - if I want my place with a stable for a horse (or more :nice1 )

thanks loads

Kat
