Hi everyone, They do seem busy at NZIS, lots of brill news coming through all round. Congrats to everyone who's getting there! :clap :clap :nice1
Quick question: do you have to have separate passports for all the family? Our two youngest are on mine currently, and I wondered about getting them separate ones, but that means I'd have to send mine away for a while.........
Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this one,
Gil

I could be wrong - and I'm sure someone will be able to either correct me or back me up - but I have a feeling that even travelling from the UK now your children would need their own passports. (I have vague recollections of seeing people having problems with this on Airline or some such programme).

Hi
I'm sure they all have to have their own passports too. But it might be when the current one runs out. Yes it is, here you go: http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/_1_applications/1_babies.asp

Sounds like a good idea to get them their own though.

Knew I had seen it somewhere, here you go, looks like they have to have their own passports if you are planning to go Air NZ Via LAX at least.

Children Travelling on Parent's Passport to or via the USA

Most Air New Zealand flights operating to and from London-Heathrow fly via Los Angeles or San Francisco in the USA.

It is a US Government requirement that all travellers entering or transiting the USA have their own individual passport. Children who have been endorsed on their parent's passport will not be eligible to travel on Air New Zealand flights to or from London-Heathrow, if these flights operate via Los Angeles or San Francisco. They MUST present their own individual passport at check-in.

This requirement includes travellers on NZ1 London-Heathrow/Auckland and NZ2 Auckland/London-Heathrow as these flights transit Los Angeles, where ALL passengers are required to go through US Immigration formalities. For further information on transiting Los Angeles, please see Travelling through Los Angeles.

Thanks for the information, Deborah, Debs and Jubjub. I guess I do need to get them their own passports. Soonest sent, soonest returned, I hope, as we are waiting for our ITA to land on the doormat.....I can't concentrate on work at all at the moment...... :smile

I've not long done Cam's passport (my two year old) and was impressed with how quickly it was returned. If you pay for the checking thing at the post office I think it's guaranteed to be back in 2 (or is it 3) weeks.

That is quick! :yes
Something that has just occured to me is that I could go to the Passport Office in Newport (12 miles from Cardiff) and get them over the counter. I remember doing it years ago when I had Lauren (now 17) and was living in Italy at the time, so needed her on my passport REALLY quick, and it was a v rapid and positive experience. Hmmm.
By the way, our ITA arrived today!! :clap :clap

Thanks for the claps and cheers! Darn it, just realised 17 year-olds need police checks. delivered mine and Steve's to local plismon (Welsh!) yesterday. Drat. More traipsing about. Think I'll refrain from celebrating till after the medical next week. Strangely, my tummy swells up after the old pop, so want to try and appear svelte and fit for Dr Million.... Right, off to get more documents.....Gil

Well, you always look svelte to me dear :nice1

I'm just hoping that the Police check doesn't pick up that Bank job I did in Limehouse all those years ago. You know how picky plod can be these days :laugh

Hi Gil

We have just had our childrens passports renewed, as they were on my wifes, didn't fast track them or anything just sent them recorded post, we had them back within two weeks. Also if you take them yourself, it is now just on double the fee, think it is £60 for an adult and £40 for a child and as you have to wait for your 17 year olds police check to come through you have the time to wait. Remember you have to pay for your passport to be altered too.

Thanks Kim, didn't know they'd hiked up the price for an over the counter one because I didn't read the information with the application  Detail has never been my strong point..... the 2 week checking option sounds best, so I guess I'll get on with that. Asda photo botth here we come! :cool
