Hello to you all.

This is the 1st time on here, so do excuse me!!!:oops:

Myself and young family are looking into emigrating, at this stage we are looking for some advice regarding what's the next step etc etc.

It has taken me 6 months to talk my wife round to the idea of emigrating - so now's she up for it - i want to get on with it.

Another question is - can anyone give me some advice regarding working for New Zealand Police , currently employed in the UK as a Dispatcher for Kent Police in one of their Communication Centres - and understand that they have a simular set up over there.

I was looking to carry on with the same kind of job over there - so any advice realting who to contact etc would be more than welcome.

I learnt a lot by reading through some of the old threads and doing a search for various topics, like "school fees", "removals" etc.

In terms of next steps, your best bet would be to look at the New Zealand Immigration Service website http://www.immigration.govt.nz/, which will give you all the information you need and will also enable you to submit an "Expression of Interest", which will be the first step on your journey.

Have you done your EOI yet?

This is the NZ police site http://www.police.govt.nz/ and they seem to be keen to have officers but I couldn't find anything for civvies. (Sorry)

I was with Surrey Police and looked to transferring too but decided to do something completely different instead. :clap :clap

I seem to recall reading somewhere (not here) that you have to have been resident for a number of years (3?) before you could join the NZ police. I am sure someone will know the answers though, just hang in there.

I just checked out your profile guys, and see you are in Maidstone. It would be great to have your company at the next (2nd) southeast forum meet up. The venue is quite likely to be Thurrock, just look up the recent thread by Kiwidebs.

There's nothing yet that we haven't found an answer to on the forum, so feel free to fire your questions theres a lot of experience here :yes

As for the Police, I will ask Keith to post something about that as he's looking to join up. From what I know there are 4 open days a year and you will have to attend one of those open days as a starter. I don't know about the 3 year rule, he's not mentioned anything about that, but the NZ police site should help.
