As some of you know i have a job offer here(which is an open one). :nice1 I received this offer roughly 7 weeks ago. Along with this offer came evidence from the NZ Herald that the employer has tried to employ locals but without success, :nice1 :yes he sent over 3 months of adverts.

The question i would like answering if it can,is how long is this evidence valid for? :uhoh Obviously when i go for that all important work visa/permit i will have this evidence to prove to immigration that everything has been done by the employer to recruit from NZ. :nice1 I haven't even thought about the visa due to our house not moving :no . When we spoke to immigration a while ago we were asked for a date when we would be entering NZ, unfortunately we couldn't answer it due to the house. We were then told that should a visa/permit be issued and we don't enter the country on a given date then we would be losing precious time on the visa/permit. :no :wah

Do i go for that visa/permit now whilst this evidence is fresh and lose out on time, or will this evidence stand good for a little while longer?

Has anybody been down this avenue and can share their experience with me.

Will be calling immigration(auckland, its cheaper and quicker than phoning london) on sunday night for answers but in the mean time i thought i would pose this question to you all.

Hi Kim,

I too am going over on a work visa, I do not know about how long evidence is valid for(Ididn't need any my job is on the OSL). I do however know that my employer had to fill in a form and send it to me to include in my application, I belive it is called NZIS1113.

Hope this is useful, it may be worth asking the question?

Hi there

There will be other more knowledgeable people on here to help you but i was under the impression that it was the employer who had to provide the evidence to NZIS that they had attempted and failed to recruit in NZ, not you as the employee. The employer is the one who has to get permission to employ you, then when they've become accredited, you can then apply for the work visa/ permit.

HTH?

Hi Kim I also have a open job offer and was going on a work visa and also cant sell the house. I thought long and hard about this and decided to put in my eoi and go for residency with the selection being down thought it might be easier in the long run dont know if this is possible for you while you are waiting? I put mine in and was selected three days later on the 15th sept and have just recieved my invitation to apply for residency today.

Thanks for your thoughts. Will shed some more light on this. Job is not on OSL/POL, offer is for a HGV driver. I know some will feel this is not important to NZ economy, but as the trucker says "we supply you buy" so if i don't supply, well you know?

Blue, i can't apply for residency just yet. So avenue of EOI is a non starter. :no :wah

Ruthyroo, yes the employer has provided the evidence that he can't recruit locals, i have to take this along to NZIS when i apply for the visa/permit. In relation to accreditation i will be trying to force my future employer to go down this avenue at a later date, as he is always struggling to recruit locally. Hopefully this will open the door for any other UK drivers wanting to get out there.

Thanks
Kim

Kim,
if you have a job offer you gain 50 points, even if it isn't on the POL.
so why can you not apply for EOI? surely your identity and character is worth another 50 points. if your job offer is outside Akl, you gain another 10 points.

Somebody, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Rimbo,
Unfortunately i don't get those elusive 50pts because the job isn't OSL/POL. :wah Most people will say that it takes a skill to drive a 45ft unit and trailer thats carrying 44 tonnes, which it does. In fact i am a dangerous vehicle that can be a killing machine in the wrong hands, but NZ govn't don't see it that way. Also to get a HGV class 5(1 in the UK) licence in NZ takes 5 years. So until they change it i am classed in the same catagory as s***house cleaners, :laugh no disrepect to these people who do this job as someones got to do it. Unfortunately this is fact.
As for employ outside Auckland, this carrys 5pts and not the 10 you mention.
Thanks for your thoughts Rimbo.
