Hi Richie and Michelle

Our PS2 has worked here in NZ on our UK TV's. We did take it over to my in-laws for my son to play it, and the sound didn't work on their NZ tv. Not sure if that applies to all NZ tv's or not as both ours are UK ones. The NZ games work no probs at all.

Hope this helps

What about New Zealand having requirements on the ratings of video games like in the US?

Do they censore games?

There is a rating system, dunno how it works but I've seen some games with a "18" certificate, I think GTA San Andreas had one.

There are other levels but I'm not sure how they work

There is a rating system but no "restricted" rating for games (i.e. R18)... yet (?!)

San Andreas has just been banned in Australia, not here though. It's rated 18 here (I believe that it was originally rated 15+ until "Hot Coffee-Gate"(the "hidden sex scene patch" furore) hit the news/headlines!!!) Even Hilary Clinton is involved now (great article that I can't now find was quoted as saying "if Hilary was so good at finding hidden sex scenes she should have caught out her husband years ago" :D )

Just a note on PS2 in NZ

The one thing we found with PS2 over here, we have one in transit from the UK so we bought another for our son and then the daughter can have it when his turns up (his old one is the large type with a network card on it whilst the new one bought in NZ is a slimline).

The NZ PS2 do not play region 2 dvd's. Now most DVD's bought in the UK are region 2 and 4 so they are compatible.

Though some are only region 2 so will not work with DVD's brought over.

Just as well the new Dr Who series is 2 and 4 otherwise we'd be looking at a multi region DVD player too! (3 of those on there way over too, don't want any more!).
