I started a thread on here a while back but stupidly put it in the wrong catergory.
Did you know that the TB jab usually given at schools has now been withdrawn? (in the UK)
Only people from countries with a problem with TB will be immunised. Apparently they are running out of vaccine.
I have twin 12yr olds who should be getting the jab this yr but won't be now. It all seems to be a bit vague at the moment at the doctors and everyone keeps passing the buck. I have contacted the school nurses who are trained to give it but they say that even though one of the two has asthma he does not count as being vulnerable.
Timbo mentioned the rise in TB in this country. So why are we not immunising? Look at whats happening with mumps since all the trouble with MMR.
Veronica had an incident with her dog in NZ and a possum bite. They carry the disease but the vet didn't seem too bothered just to watch for infection.
But another thread says that NZ is really hot on diseases and illness. So is it given to school kids over there?
A few years ago I had a friend in OZ, she was bitten by a fruit bat. It took two years before she developed a form of CJD or mad cow disease which is carried by the bats. At the time of the bite the doctors told her she had a 1 in a million chance of catching anything.(and did nothing, because the vaccine was rare and expensive) We lost her within two weeks of the first sympton.
What is the matter with society? when we have the ability to get these things under control money always comes into it.
Sorry Rant over just want my kids protected.

My mother made us all have the BCG when we were born, difficult to do now.

Kids should all get that jab,

I am going to go back to my health form, and check all the jabs we have to have before we go, I think it is one of them.
