Today is our one year anniversary of being in New Zealand! :cheers

I guess there are a few of these coming up on the forum now.

So I was just reflecting on what we have achieved in the last year.

- We bought a house with 7 acres....and finally sold our place in the UK!! We have already done lots of work on the garden and are just awaiting consent to do a few renovations!
- Eric has been working hard...but in a less stressful environment than in the UK.
- Overall we spend much more time together as a family.
- Our children are more active now than they ever were in the UK
- Our overall lifestyle is much better
- We finally decided to take the plunge and submit an EOI (we were going to wait until next year and apply for residency through the talent visa we came on)..we had the ITA in our hands less than two weeks after selection! I am now working my way through it and gathering all our bits together!
- We have made some really good friends.
- We have finally made a decision on which school we want to send the children too! (A milestone in itself!!!)

We have not yet had a great deal of time to explore much of NZ, but with three pre-schoolers our time will come! ;)

Overall we love New Zealand. As I am sure a lot of others can relate too, we have found the financial side of things quite difficult to come to terms with, Eric earns less here than in the UK and things are more expensive here, but by changing our attitude and doing things a little differently we are getting there! :P :nice1

I have finally made a decision to retrain in Reflexology, something I haven't practised for a number of years, but with a bit of brushing up on my skills, I will be back in business...afterall, I have more room now than ever to set up my own practise from home! :P ;)

So tonight we will be celebrating our anniversary with some friends and they will be keeping our children overnight so Eric and I can go out for lunch alone tomorrow :P

Thanks everyone for your replies. It certainly was a good excuse for a celebration and a night without the children felt a little odd!

We had a great lunch on Sunday at the Whangarei Town Basin, we even had time to have a look around the shops...it was like being a tourist...you sometime forget that you live in a tourist destination:yes

Anyway, we are into our year two now...I wonder what we will achieve this year....
:cheers

Amanda.....A million miles from Huddersfield:laugh

As to what you'll achieve this year, well, don't you think the past year has been enough and it's time to sit back on your laurels for a little while :yes ;) ??? Well done, and thank you for all the info you've posted over the past year.
