As you can see, we're changing the format of the forum - it should be much more functional when complete.
I'm getting one or two emails saying people can't post. We're still learning to drive the new forum format, so please be patient until we get any problems smoothed out. Thanks for your patience. :)

Thanks Carol. :)
There are a quite few things I like about this software. I particularly like the fact you don't have to open a thread to read the beginning of it - so you can have a quick look and decide if you want to open the thread or move on to the next thread - a good time saver.
The current colour scheme is our first stab. So if anyone is finding it sore on the eye after a couple of days, just let us know and we'll try to make some adustments.

It looks like all my old messages (previously deleted) had been re-instated. I've deleted them again now.

Do i like it or don't i like it? At this moment its starting to annoy me i just haven't really had time to sit and go through it, but there is one question i would like an answer to. I have received 2 PM's, but no email to say this, which would have normally happened. Its only by chance whilst having a sniff through the site i realised i had received them. Is there any chance we can have the notification email back please.

14th August 2005, 09:27 PM
Hi Moorf,
I did a complete import of pm's from the old database into the new database - well, I thought it was complete. I don't think I can do another import now because there are new pm's floating around in this forum and I think trying to have old and new together might cause instabilities in the database.
If there are very important messages missing, I could arrange a time with everyone when I remove the redirect on the old forum to the new forum. The old forum would then become accessible again. I'd rather not do this, but I will if necessary.

Where Are My Areoplanes??? I Was Started To Build A Little Collection All Of Mine Own - But They've Flown Away!
ENZ
14th August 2005, 11:10 PM
Hi Marcia,
From the lounge:
The aeroplanes have been replaced by the small green squares on the upper right, below your post count.
The idea is that if someone makes a post you like, or that you find helpful, you can go to the top of the post and use the scales symbol to add to their reputation. The more reputation points you get, the more green squares you get.
So, if someone has made helpful posts in the past, click on the scales above one of their posts and give them some reputation points to get things going.

I see the ones to add as an icon in the message, but wheres the 'cheers' one and 'lol' one??
Or do we have to add them ourselves from a similie site ??

Hello Miffy
This is how you could find your similies............
Step 1. Click the "User CP" located on your top left corner.
Step 2. On your left, there is a list of "Control Panel", click the "Edit Options"
Step 3. On your right, scroll down all the the way to the bottom, you will see the "Miscellaneous Options". Go to the "Message Editor Interface" and select "Standard Editor - Extra formating controls". Then save changes.
All your similies :yes :p :) will show up when you start posting.

Hi Miffy,
To get smileys, click on your user control panel (User CP) top left.
Then look down the links on the left for Edit Options and click this.
The Edit Options page has lots of choices you can select to control your "forum experience".
In this case, you should scroll to the very bottom of the page where under Miscellaneous Options you'll find the Message Editor Interface.
Select whichever message editor suits you best to display smileys.
Douglas :)

I can't add smilies - every time I click on one the page just jumps to the top I've changed my settings to every option and no success. With the full WYSIWYG option I can't even type into the message box.
I can't do anything to change the text - make it bold, change colour. Nowt. Close Current Tag and Close All Tags have red crosses by them.
I'm currently on the Standard Editor option

Hello Douglas
It seems that there is a limit in putting the similies and photos because I have this message telling me :
"You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.
Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator."
In the old format, there are no limits to the smilies and pictures that we post.
I am feeling  and
Appreciate your much needed help.
Many thanks :clap

Hi Douglas
I see you changed me to WYSIWYG but I still can't type anything into the messgae box - only on the Post Quick Reply box or when I'm set to Standard Editor- is it because HTML is set to off in my posting rules vB code is On - Smilies are On (hah) - IMG code is On (hah) - HTML code is off.
I seem to be the only one having these problems - is it me????

I like the new style, get to see more of the message on the screen, and so far, it doesn't seem to go off the screen as sometimes happened before.
Like the edit facility, when you spot an error on your post, or just want to add an extra line in, saves you reposting straight away.
Miss the "view posts since last viewing" though, as I used to use this a lot, saved you going through all the forums to check. The function is probably their but I just haven't seen it.
Miss my planes, I was just getting a few, but will keep an eye on my green line, and try to add to others.

Have to admit that - after giving it a go for a few days - I have to say that I prefer the old forum format. Maybe this has more to do with the fact that a well used 'comfort blanket' has been taken and been replsaced with a crisp, new unchewed one.
So many changes going on in my life at the moment - this is just another one I guess. Oh woe is meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!
Good on you though for keeping us up to date and functional, I know these changes don't come without certain headaches. Maybe it's time old stalwarts like me got a much needed boot up the jacksy !!!!
