Hi all, great to see this room.

I’m in the UK at the moment, our invitation to apply is finally finished, its sat on the bookcase waiting for the post office to open on Monday. YES

I’ve started looking for work in NZ from the UK now, and I did experience one problem that I thought I’d share.

I joined seek, and created an online CV which I used to apply for a job.

I got an email from the company thanking me for my interest. The email also contained the email that was sent to them by seek.

The problem.

The seek website doesn’t send your CV when you apply for a position, it sends a summary of it. In my case the summary looked really really bad!

The summary does things like only note the first qualification on your CV, and if like me you list your qualifications in chronological order, the only qualification the prospective employer will see may be a short course you did in your last Job.
The same is true for other sections like work experience.

There is a link to your full CV but I think the summary was enough to put them off

That's useful Bob, I have also done my CV online with Seek, and didn't realise that's allt ehy sent. Will do same, and attach word doc next time.
