Hi everyone,
Can I just say what a fabulous site this is, I have spent hours reading it over the last few months, it is a credit to all those who produce it and contribute to it. I hate to think what it would have been like emigrating to New Zealand without this kind of resource. So far I have always found the answer to my questions by searching the site, but this time I haven't, so here goes with my first post.

We are at the stage where we are trying to complete the transit insurance form for all our stuff, which is going in a 40' container with Crown. The form says to value things to replace in the destination country, but I'm struggling to know what the value of all our things is in New Zealand. Can anybody suggest any useful web sites or other resourses to help with this please? For those of you who have already moved, how did you find out the correct values?
Many thanks for you help.

I remember having this problem when we moved. For a lot of things I just ended up looking for the UK replacement cost and converted it into dollars.

Anyway, these sites may be of help to you:

www.mitre10.co.nz similar to B & Q / Wickes
www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront for small electrical goods, PCs.
www.freedomfurniture.co.nz for furnishings, bit like Next's home section
www.noelleeming.co.nz for quite a lot of stuff - Debenhams minus clothes.
