Oh My !!!!! Got quite a shock when I logged on and found the new format.
OK folks .... we've had the news we've been waiting for. On Friday 12th our house completed. Buyer No.2 got it. He did everything he promised he would do - he was just held up (as usual) by the idiotic red tape that binds the process in England. Anyway - on Friday morning he signed, and the money was in our bank within the hour.
Are we relieved? YOU BET !!!!! Things would have been rather tight (to say the least) had this sale gone belly up.
Things are going really well for us over here now. The panic has been taken out of the situation and we can start to settle into some kind of 'normality'. I have some news regarding a new house - but those of you who know me know that I'm deeply superstitious (sp) so will say no more until we're further down the track with that one.
This week we collect our new car. Well - it's new to us. A Mitsubishi Space Gear. It's a (very tall) 4WD people carrier. Seeing that Mark is away I'm the one who gets to pick it up and have a play in it before he comes home. Yay.
Today the kids and I are celebrating the sale of the house by taking a drive out to the beach for a run around and then we're having fish & chips for lunch. Quite amazing really - back at home we would have celebrated such an event by going out shopping and lavishing each other with things we didn't really need. It's funny how quickly we change.
The homesickness has got a heap better over the last few days. It's still there but not as intense as it was. Mum & Dad have already booked their flights out here (they arrive on new years eve) so that has made a huge difference to my state of mind. Having something to look forward to does it for me.
All in all things are going pretty well for us. It's very strange being out here without Mark, but something that we'll get use to as time goes by. He's home 3 weeks on Friday so that will soon pass.
Boys are still loving school - they are in the school production next month so they're really in the thick of things there. The production is being staged in the hall of Mark's old high school so that will be quite a buzz. Mark is feeling 'born again' re-tracing this childhood footsteps.
The fact that the weather is pretty darn good at the moment too is adding to the positive mood. I'm sure my 'down times' will continue - but as long as times like this keep popping up then I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
This immigration process is NOT easy. But it's rewarding. Who knows what path we'll take in the future .... all I can say is the journey is very exciting.
