It's only me.
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of costs that will be incurred to store the container ( 20 footer ) with our worldly goods in for say, 2 months after it arrives in NZ. When we arrive we plan to take some well earned timeout and have a good old mooch around the Islands before heading to our chosen final destination.
Has anyone had any experience of this ? Would it be cheaper to delay the shipment and store in the UK rather than NZ ?
Your advice please.

Hi John

Have you considered storing it at this end for a bit. Curtiss and sons (so far our cheapest quote) will store for four weeks free at this end.
PSS quoted us one week free then a nominal weekly charge at this end and then choosing to store in NZ was a one off handling charge of NZ$170 then NZ$43 per week.

Yep I'm with Debs, Curtiss came this morning and they offer 4 weeks free. They seem to use The Moving Co NZ end you could try them for prices or get Curtiss to quote for the package.
I'm sure if if comes to it you could haggle :exit

Me again

I'm sure Moorf had stuff stored in Brighton for 3 months? I've tried to find the thread but can't.
Ask Moorf:p (I like this smiley so I've used it, no offence meant).

Hey John

Quick update before the next lot of quoter shippers arrive.

NZ Van lines storage $250 per month ( and you can haggle)

Hope this helps a bit more than my last answer:roll

Deborah

Soon to be a shipping quote queen :D

I think we are being charges $65 a week for storage by Crown, with a 1 off fee of $150.

On saying that - we havent had a bill yet, and they have had the stuff for over 6 weeks!

There are plenty of self store options here, but we didnt find them that much cheaper - and then theres theres the hassle of moving the stuff (and losing the delivery from crown when we move to the new house).
