Hi everyone
Thought I'd come back! Lots of new members I see - and what a groovy new forum!
Great to 'catch up' with all the old forum members - Moorf you have bought a house and Diny you have finally moved!
I am still here - not so homesick now although I do still have pangs from time to time. I love living in Christchurch though and my family are all happy so I am happy!
Anyway, bye for now

Welcome back Sue.
Good to hear the homesickness is getting better. It can be crippling at times eh? Must admit that mine is starting to ease abit. Each day seems better than the last. Don't think it will ever go altogether though.
Yeah ..... the move was a long time coming ..... but here we are.
Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Great that you are feeling settled and love Christchurch.
What are the bits you love, and how long have you been out there. We will be over soon, if we can sell our house.

Hi Jo
What do I love about Christchurch? Hmm..well - I love the hills, the beaches, the city, the parks, coffee shops, the restaurants, the gondola, and the fact that you have everything here for family life. The mountains are not far away, the coast is right here on the doorstep, the countryside is beautiful, wonderful hilly walks and views. I love walking through the city, visiting the Arts Centre and market, watching the street entertainers whilst relaxing with a cappucino and just watching the world go by.
I truly do love living here but I still miss England and my family and friends. I have been here nearly 18 months now and I am finally feeling settled.
Jo, why do you want to come to Christchurch?

Hi Sue
Where abouts in Christchurch are you? We'll be there as soon as we get our PR and get the house sold (so many hurdles to cross). Would be interested to know where you are and what you think of it!

From what I've read on here homesickness seems to be something that women seem to suffer from way more than guys. I've never read a post on here from a guy talking about homesickness, but I've seen plenty of women talk about it.
Maybe it's a macho guy thing where we don't like to admit to things like this. Perhaps not though, I've been here 4 months now, and haven't had a single bit of homesickness at all. I guess it's all about what people consider makes "home", anywhere my wife and my dog are, is "home" to me.
Sure I'd enjoy spending some time with the my parents or other friends in UK, but do I miss them and feel that somehow my life is lacking something without that contact with them ? Not for a second, we all make our own place in the world

I don't know whether to envy you or feel desparately sorry for you. It's a double sided sword I guess.
