We'r'e trying to book a flight from Auckland to Vancouver for around the end of February.
We've just tried a few websites including Air NZ and Air Canada and all of them say that they can't process our request. We suspect it might be that you can't book 6 months ahead, but aren't sure.
Can anybody help us with this? How does it work? What's a good website?
Also, any advice about how to get the best deal, or about laying over in Hawaii for a day or 2 if possible, would be appreciated.

I'm sure it's a 6 month rule. But maybe someone will know for sure on here.
Have you tried www.ziji.com (http://www.ziji.com/). I've not tried them yet but someone on here recommended them and I've stuck them in my favourites.
Good luck

I was told that long haul flights come up 12 months before the flight date. It is maybe something to do with the new supervirus that is in the news today. Apparently CNN ABC and the NY times have been virtually shut down by it.

Hi Deborah,
Thanks for the link...but ziji.com does not seem to have anything to do with airfare booking.

We booked our flights 10 mths in advance with Malaysian Airlines through Thomas Cook. Have also used ebookers in the past www.ebookers.com. Possibly due to booking far in advance, Thomas Cook matched cheapest internet prices we could find at the time (ebookers were cheapest at that time). We just had problem getting return date - we've got tickets that allow us one free change of return date (as you can only book return flight up to 1/12 mths in advance

Qantas is working, have you tried it?

Actually Air New Zealand is working too, I just tried both.

Maybe they fixed their glitches. :clap

Thanks to everyone for your help. Sites like ebookers are uk-based and do not let you use any city in NZ as a departure point. If someone knows of another site, we would be glad to hear about it.
We contacted a travel agent and the best deal so far is Air Tahiti (Auckland-Papeete-LA-Vancouver) at $995 + about $135 in taxes.

Have you tried House of Travel ? I think you would probably have to ring them and book though. We've used them to book internal flights and they were really good.
