Has anyone used either Doree Bonner or Atlantic movers?

I have wittled down my long list of companies who gave me quotes to these 2 but can't find any recommendations/criticism to help me decide! :wah

Thanks

Hi we have only had quotes at the mo but I know that Wayne and Trudy who are now in Auckland used Doree Bonner and they were happy with the service this end although their goods have not yet arrived so they can't say about the NZ end yet.
Did you get a quote from PSS and if so , why have you discounted them? We had them round today and the bloke seemed to know what he was doing but had a very laid back sales style!! I liked the chap from Doree Bonner, he instilled confidence and was very professional.

Tried PSS but they quoted quite high (back in December 2004 before the shipping prices went up). Also, their insurance was high 3.4% with no excess, 2.5% without.

These are the ones I got quotes from:-

Company £ full/reefer 20ft insurance NZ Co
1st Move Internat 4044 full none
Excess Int Movers 3763 full none
Clark & Rose 3850 full 3%
Bishops Move 3095 reefer 3.29%
Atlantic 3210 full 2.65% World Movers
White & Co 4290 full +5m 3% Moving Co
Bournes 3920 over full 2.5%
GB Liners 3544 full 3.25% NZ Van lines
Doree Bonner 3154 reefer 2.65% inc Grace International

Got old quotes from PSS, Anglo Pacific, Robinsons, Allied Pickfords back in December but increased what I was going to take and the shipper costs went up in March so figured they would beat some of the quotes I had.

I came down to DB and Atlantic due to quote, insurance, the feedback I found on forums on both the company and the NZ company. Atlantic re-evaluated their insurance to compare with DB but didn't offer extras for derangement and mould/mildew.

I found DB chap (Nick Earle) very helpful even with general information about shipping and why some companies quoted for reefer, insurance differences, etc. I also found when you compared the insurances most of them had excess, clauses and wasn't full cover.

Don't be afraid to negociate as they all are prepared to look at both their quote and insurance if it's a reasonable difference.

Hope this helps!

Have you tried doing the insurance separately?

For the life of me I can't remember their name but Alijax used a company that seemed reasonable and cheaper than your removal co quoted. The figure of 1.7% lurks in my memory and hopefully some kind person with a memory will help me out here.

And my ignorance shows, whats a reefer??

Doree Bonner and Atlantic seem to be the only 2 I haven't asked to come round, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:wah

I did look at that but they had excess and not full cover, so I didn't think it was worth it!

You do need to read the small print to see what you get for your money, as some don't seem to cover much at all!!!

You'll find none of them will cover jewellery so you have to take it over in your hand luggage.
