Does anyone know if we get Saturday post over hear?
We get an large amount of junk mail any day / time of the week but not sure if there is a post delivery on a saturday?
We don't really seem to get regular deliverys they seem to get lots on one day then nothing for a couple of days then another bunch ... I'm sure the mail isn't storing them up and then doing 1 or 2 drops a week ... ;)
I keep meaning to ask one of my neighbours / work collegues but keep forgetting :roll

We do receive our mails occasionally, on saturday.

We get Saturday deliveries, but as jubjub said, anytime before 5pm seems the norm here! It might depend on how big the delivery area is - in Sumner I could guarantee I'd have the post by 2pm.
And don't get me started on the amount of junk in the postbox  :exit I read somewhere that soon you will be able to get official "NO JUNK MAIL" stickers and you will be able to report companies who shove junk mail in your postbox. (A bit like the MPS (Mail Preferences Service) in the UK.)
I've seen a house over near Taylors Mistake that has two postboxes - one labelled "mail" which is at the normal height, and a "junk mail" box which is about 15ft up a tree :laugh :laugh

Yes there are Saturday deliveries unless you're in some rural areas.
To stop the junk mail, just stick a bit of paper saying "no circulars" on your box. :nice1

Love that junk mail box!
Ours has got a "no circulars" sticker on it from the previous owners, and its amazing the difference it has made to the amount of stuff we get compared to all the rubbish we got in the rentals mail box. We get our mail, the odd flyer for local businesses and the local paper, thats it!

The details for the house we are buying actually advertised "Mail 6 days a week"! :D So I guess that means we will get a delivery on Saturdays.

Just to make you all feel homesick for the UK (not), we usually get our mail here anytime after lunch, apart from a Saturday. It's always, and you can set your watch by it, at 7:00am without a minutes variation. Absolutely guaranteed to wake the dog up, who barks and then wakes the children up. And then the other 3 dogs in the road also bark. Every, single Saturday. We can go all week without mail, and get a load which lands loud enough to wake us up anyway, at 7:00 on the dot.

I liked teh jink mail to begin with as it gave us information in what was about / local prices etc but now am getting a bit sick of it but like it for the vouchers (especially for dominos pizza) so might put a sticker up "no circulars unless they are vouchers for free / cheap food" :laugh

The 'it turns up when it feels like it' delivery on a saturday is pretty much what I thought it was!
thanks :nice1

Slightly off topic here. How have you guys that have made the move found the mail forwarding service with Royal mail? Also, how long did you have a re-direct on mail from home?

We got mail on Saturday just gone.
At home we could set our clock by Brian the postie but here it seem that it arrives at some point during the day.
We've got a 'no junk mail' sticker on our mail box too.
Timbo, we started a mail redirection from the RM in the UK and gave a Post Restante address here in Welly. We are now having that redirected to our house, really simple. The PR adress was free and set up before we left. It was $7 to redirect it to our house for 3 months I think. Beats the UK at £64.00 or near.
It adds a day or so onto our delivery but Airmail from the UK/Europe is coming in at about 5-6 days at the mo.
Hope this helps

We've got a PO box and that is usually 'delivered' to by 10 am every weekday and Saturday.

Timbo, we took out a year mail redirection, and opened a po box here to have it sent to, only problem is now the PO box is the other side of the city:o , luckily we dont get much mail to it any more....., all the "real" people know our house address now we have bought one.
Think it takes about 6 working days for mail to come from UK.

I just had to have a little chuckle to myself. It is currently 6.05pm here in sunny Surrey, and the post has just fallen on the mat.
Lucky we were not waiting for anything too important.
