Andy just got his phototaken Speeding in London

29 mph in a 20mph zone (Tower Bridge) on Sat 8.29 in the morning.
Pathetic really we were about the only thing on the road. No danger at all.

Do we need to inform NZIS about it if he gets points etc?

No - it's not considered a 'serious' criminal offence. Good job really - I was up to 9 points on my UK licence (OK OK - 6 of them have lapsed now) - there was no mention of them at all on my police cert.

Taking it one step further, when I insured our cars over here I let the ins. co. know about my driving points, they noted them on the system but it didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

All of my speeding convictions were for pathetic speeds too ...... like 35 in a 30 very early in the morning with nobody about ....... makes you mad eh.

Ian got caught speeding on the way home from Queenstown a couiple of weeks ago.
Aparently the stretch from Cronwell to Clyde is well known for it. Long straight pretty much empty road police man in car zapping at everyones gun.
Anyway got caught doing 120km in a 100km. He was releived when plod said this as he thought he was going ALOT faster :laugh

Just got a find (can't remeber for how much but $120 seems to come to mind) and some points. But having asked around they don't seem to mean anything. WIll have to find out when we apply for our NZ licences...

Pity you weren't caught over here.

If you get done for speeding in NZ the Labour cabinet has a whip round for you to pay your fine. :laugh

She's such a nice lady...

Speeding in the UK is a civil offence not a criminal offence. So you won't have to tell NZIS.

Good job as my husband at one stage had 9 points. Got a hefty six points speeding on his motorbike, doing 80 in a 50 mph limit. Although there was only the copper's word of mouth at the time. :roll

check out www.pepipoo.com (http://www.pepipoo.com/)

There are specific threads in the forum about the 20mph speed limit on tower bridge. Also read all the various threads about how to reply to Notices of intended prosecution (NIP).

It's a very useful site and while I can't say you will get off I followed the advice on the site and succesfully avoided a ban and a very large fine for 100mph+ on the M3.

driving slowly in Waiheke - if you drive too fast you fall off the island.
