I thought I'd post this as I'm now seeing the NZ job market from the other side (as an employer / user of IT resource)

The IT Job Market is very tight - contracting attracts the following rates for WLG (slightly less for CHCH unless you find a Govt or NZ Corporate employer)

Programmers (specifically .Net $60 -$75 and hour)
Testers $40- $60 and hour depending on skills experience
BA $60 -$70 an hour
System Architect $65 - $105 an hour
Project Managers $60 - $105 an hour

Some of these are via agencies who generally take $10 - $20 an hour fees

Thanks for the post, I note that you are from the UK. Can you tell me if there is a similar scheme to the UK’s IR35 thing going on in NZ.

I don't really know as I don't have any personal experience of contracting either in the UK or NZ. I just sign off the invoices :)
