I am a mechanical dunce, could change a tyre if I had to, but don't really fancy it:p (especially if there is going to be a screaming baby in the car :wah ). I can generally figure out whats wrong, but god knows how you fix it!

So far I have only managed to find AA breakdown cover, total of around $130 to cover both of us for a year.

Anyone got cover with a different company, or is AA the only real option?

Have looked at my car insurance and its not an option to add it onto there.

Blinking flip - Is AA the only real option then? I went into a branch today and the package was poor for $90. Limited to six call outs and a cap on the miles they will tow for free till the charges kick in.

Is there anything else?

I have free breakdown as part of my car insurance with State.

I had heard State do it, we need to renew soon, so may just go with them.

I have never got round to sorting anything out with this, and once I did have a flat tyre (and realised I really dont have a clue how to do that either!) there were some nice men nearby to assist!

Only had one breakdown, and got our garage to come and get me... as I was local anyway.

The Warehouse sells cheap breakdown cover, I don't know anything about it other than seeing an ad for it, but here's the link

I was using State as part of my insurance, but got a cheaper quote from elsewhere and have taken AA cover. I paid for the upgrade to give me unlimited cover and breakdowns as I have an old and none too reliable car... This was still cheaper than using State.

We have State and use them for cover. I have used it once for a dead battery and it worked like a charm...

i always thought AA was good, because the caps on callouts arent that bad, and you dont have to be driving your own car to use it (ie you could be getting a lift from someone and their car breaks down...and you can ring the aa and they'll give you a jumpstart regardless)
