Anyone any direct or indirect experience with emigrating to NZ as an acountant? Don't seem to be on the shortage list on the NZIS website!
Are work opportunities reasonably good at a mid-high level (currently a partner but not looking for this level!)

Don't really fancy Auckland (too big I think) but how about Welly or any other areas for employment prospects and quality of life opportunities?

Thanks in advance!

Senior-level accountants are on the current Occupational Shortages List for both Wellington and Auckland. This doesn't gain you extra points for the EOI, but it does eliminate the need for your employer to demonstrate that no NZ resident is available for the position. Sounds like you should have little problem finding a job in either city!

From my research, I definitely fancy Wellington! There's a recent thread on Welly here: http://www.emigratenz.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55

Hi paul
My husband is an accountant and we are emigrating to Nelson Jan2005
Senior accountants are on the OSL occupational shortage list which is slightly different to prioity occ list.

We also didn't fancy Auckland,we contacted some agents and got interviews all over the place and we settled on Nelson for the lifestyle.
they are short of experienced accountants in NZ

We did have to go to NZ for interviews because they wouldn't recriut unseen but we pre organised 8 interviews before we left

If we can help you any more just ask :yes :yes
