Calling all Electricians. Are you struggling to find an offer of employment to help you get that elusive PR, or work visa. Well maybe i can help.

My friend who is out in NZ informed me yesterday that the company, who he works for is struggling to recruit from the local workforce, and are considering a recruitment drive here in the UK. I told him i knew there were a few sparks on this site who may be able to help with this company's shortfall. He has seen his employer today, and he has given the go ahead for me to post this thread. They have said, if anybody is interested then all they have to do is post their CV and it will be looked on favourably. Unfortunately i don't have a telephone number for you to call( take a look in yellow pages, sure you'll find it there ) at the moment, but do have an e-mail address and a contact name.

At this present time i know they have branches in, Auckland, North Shore and Hamilton.

The company's name is Ward Chandler and the e-mail address is davidb@wcw.co.nz remember to post CV.

Hope this has helped.

Just to add to the original thread. You will not be expected to fly to NZ for interview, it seems it will all be done on the phone. The employer knows the immigration process, so there won't be any problems. Also like to add that when i mentioned yellow pages i did mean nz yellow pages online. Sorry for any possible confusion.
So come on you have seen the light:laugh get your butts into gear and contact them, you have nothing to lose but plenty to gain.
Jo, i did mention retainer, but Neil just laughed at me.

Had a chat with my mate yesterday who had given me this info, and we were curious just as to how many Electricians who are on this forum, had actually followed up the link and made contact with the company. If anybody has, and have taken the enquiry further we would like to know what the outcome was and if it was worth dropping the link to you folks.

Have been contacted by the owner of this company today and he is having trouble registering on this site so can't post what he wants. He has asked me to pop the companys website here so all you electricians can take a look.

Perhaps someone should start up a NZ site for co.'s looking for tradesmen and vice versa - seems to me that from what I'm hearing there is a real shortage here, and yet no-one out of NZ is getting to hear about the jobs!

Hello Kim,
Finally managed to get up and running on this site......many thanks for all your efforts to date - we have had a number of enquiries which I'm following up on.
I agree with Moorf's comments.....there is a real shortage of skilled trademen (in most trades) over here yet a lot of the efforts by NZ Immigration and others seem directed to more "professional" vocations. Yes, they no doubt have their shortages as well, but the trades issue has been causing huge problems in NZ - so much so that government curtailed spending on major projects because companies were hiking their rates due to the shortage!
Anyway, anyone who has been following Kim's posting can find out a little more by reading my "Electricians wanted" posting.
Neil tells me you're heading this way shortly....hope we can catch up for a beer or 3...I owe you at least that!
Cheers,
Keith
