Hi all, a couple of queries if anyone can help me please.
When we come to NZ in November on visitors visas we would like to put our children into school. I know we have to pay for their schooling but unsure as to whether we need to get student visas for them. If so, can we arrange these before we go?
Also, does house rental usually include council tax and water rates or do we need to register to pay those separately?
Thanks!
Hannah

Good news there isn't Council tax or water rates :)
(can't help you on the school thing as I don't have kids)

Water is currently free, well is down in the south. but there are mumers about putting in water meters...
No council tax or equivelent just pay tax on your earnings (but you do have to pay for bin bags in most areas.... ;) )

It has been our experience that when you rent, all rates etc are included in your rent payment. The only extras are things like phone, electric etc.

Im pretty sure you will have to get student visas for the kids, we did and we are here on long term work visas. You will have to pay international school fees on a holiday visa but not on a work visa. Im not sure whether you can arrange the student visas before you go though.

You might find that some land lords include water ,up to a certain point, and any extra use you will be billed for . Check this out. I guess it's to do with the amount of water you get for a certain price ,and anything extra will be at a premium.
And your children will need over seas student visas, although i does seem some schools worry about it more than others.

good luck.
