Hi all, please advice. How do I ship a piano in a 20 foot container?
1 shipper proposed placing the piano in a wooden crate. Then placed the crate in 20 foot container. Another shipper said that in a 20 foot container, no need to crate piano...only need to protect it well with thick cardboards and wraps.
Does MAF require such wooden crate and wooden piano to be fumigated and quarantine ?
Thanks

We moved a 400kg 100 year old player piano from Minnesota to Hawaii, the movers did not crate it seperately. They just put it in a 20 foot container with other stuff and wrapped with cardboard. $1100USD door to door back in 1997!

the way they stuff the containers so full I doubt the piano would need a crate, they can just surround it with boxes of stuff and I doubt it would move an inch in transit.

Ours was just wrapped but not crated.
It was one of the items that Pickfords managed to get here undamaged...

That has not restored my faith in Pickfords knowing that our "worldly" belongings are in storage with them pending to be shipped here.
Thanks George - LOL

I'm sure your worldly possessions will be fine - they couldn't screw up that badly twice!!! :D
