Does anyone know whether school fees will be charged if you have a work permit. We are applying for a work visa under the general work category (for less than 2 years)
Incredibly my partner was offered a job this evening! The work is short term to begin with but sounds like it could become longer term.
Thanks

when we first arrived, we had work visa's and our son had a student visa which meant that we did not have to pay school fees.

Tara is correct. All you have to do is to apply for a students visa which costs £80, the same as a work visa.

Thanks, that's good news! I read something which said those with work permits under 2 years duration did not qualify for free medical care and thought this may have applied to charging of school fees also.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. That's £3K saved over our 6 mth stay!!
